With all of the political ruckus about abortion, what standards do you believe we should use in the public education system to minimize the number of unintended pregnancies?
(Sorry that I spelled abstinence wrong in the poll, I don't know how to fix it)

Abstinence is best, but teens and their hyperactive hormones should know about alternatives.

I think birth control should be available in the nurses office.

Have you been to the Planned Parenthood site?
They discuss abstinence there:
Abstinence - Planned Parenthood

I think that would be a good place to find education.

I think both should be taught. I also think that sex ed should be separated with boys only classes and girls only classes. My daughters sex ed class have been co-ed and that is not the environment to really feel secure enough about asking questions. The mere presence of the opposite sex in the classroom during health class is distracting. My dd said she was horribly embarassed when she had to read a section out of the book aloud that dealt with stds, but she said that was nothing compared to the boy that had to read aloud the names and functions of female genetalia.
But yes, I would make plan b part of the daily vitamin if I could.

Both abstinence and birth control, without a doubt.

Condoms should be available at the schools at no charge to the kids.

Sara Palin's grandchild is a fine example of abstinence. Sexually active teens aren't going to choose abstinence.

Just trying to show that PP also discusses abstinence along with topics.
That sometimes gets overlooked....

Both, with strong emphasis on abstinence being the only option that is 100% effective in preventing both pregnancy and disease.

Thanks for sharing the link, and you are right so many people think that it has to be an either/or proposition.
