I have Republican friends that support gay marriage and gay rights. The problem is that the GOP needs to get with the times and start representing the moderate Republicans rather than the fringe religious right if they ever want to win an election.

*stamps feet* "so There!" Why shouldn't they be allowed, cause you think of HIV/Aids as "the gay disease" & you're biased against gays?

I agree. The crowds I run in are all very conservative and completely pro-gay rights. A lot of the anti-gay throughout the GOP comes from it's alignment with the Christian right ( I believe to be a mistake) and I feel in-order for the GOP to re-invent itself it will need to break said alliance and stick to its fiscal conservative roots.

Why would you be in favor of a party that officiallly disapproves of who you are? There's more than just the Democratic Party to choose from as an alternative.

Well I never really take any of these polls or surveys very seriously, especially since they never reveal where such things are taken. Republicans/Democrats in urban areas might have a somewhat different opinion than those in rural areas.

Please, I encounter more Republicans who "approve" of what I do than Democrats. Most of the Repubs I know are more of a "live and let live" type, while the Dems try and control everything I do ,think and say!

The polls have been consistent for at least the last 15 years. Republicans are much less accepting of homosexuality than Democrats. As I said, it's reflected in the party platforms. It's not just a generalization or stereotype; they actually put it in their platforms.

I think your experience is unique.

We don't ban dumb people from coming to the country. As far HIV goes, the disease itself will hold you accountable for the rest of your life. No need for anybody else to pile on.

ANOTHER blatant LIE from the Anointed One (Barack Obama). What makes him think he can win over the gay and lesbian population after what he has already done with the DOMA???

I hope that my gay and lesbian counterparts aren't stupid enough to fall for this one, but unfortunately they probably will.
He has already lost significant Gay support and I am sure he is losing more by the day. He needs to "put his money where his mouth is"; he will lose support from other groups also since he appears to have LIED during his campaign just to pander to certain demographic groups. The Democrats now have "control", relatively, of our legislative branch of government.....so they can push through and move forward on many Gay issues. Failure to move forward, at this time to pass legislation for equality....WILL COST the DEMOCRATS DEARLY and they will loose aloty of their powerbase....I think I'm going back to registering as an Independant...It's just the same old story from both parties...though at least the Democrats will discuss Gay issues, which is more than one can say about the Republicans.

That would be nice.

They don't even have to come out in support of marriage equality but they could at least stop the constant attacks gays and lesbians.
A libertarian stance would be nice.
