When the Democrats took over Congress they were quick to increase the Federal Minimum Wage in the first 100 hours in the House of Representatives. Then it moved over to the Senate and it has sat for months with no action. If you asked the average person they would say that the Federal Minimum Wage has gone up, but the fact is that nothing has happened yet. In fact the Congress is now thinking of eliminating the Minimum Wage completely and let the free market control wages.

Do you support eliminating the Federal Minimum wage entirely and let the market control wages. So if they can find someone to work at a fast food restaurant for $2.00, that would be OK. With the mass of desparate people from overseas, I am sure some one would work for almost nothing if it is a steady job. Ideas?

I am fine with that. No fast food restaurant would have any employees at $2.00. On top of that, many states have their own minimum wages. Actually, Congress does not have the power to legislate a minimum wage, anyway. If you disagree with me, please show me where that power is granted, in the Constitution.

Do you know why it has not gone up?

Because the Democrats in the U.S. Senate are in the pockets of Walmart, Tyson chicken, Disney, and other exploting/enslaving companies. These enslaving companies oppose these measure and since the US Senators depend on the contributions, they caved in and did not pass the minimum wage reform.

These are the same Democrats who want to push an illegal alien amnesty right now, so that the same corporations that fund these Democrats would not have to pay any American worker livable wages.

Friend, the 2-party system is dead in America. The corporations control Washington and both parties are so in bed with evil companies like Walmart that America's future is in jeopardy. Both parties want to sell out the American people and the workers through an illegal alien amnesty and a "guest worker" program so the corporate slave drivers will be happy.

It is sickening.

You just gotta love good satire!

The ruling party has just what it wants: A guarantee to keep their faces in the trough.
Corporations are hardly relevant. The ruling class has achieved their power through class warfare, envy exploitation, vote-buying with tax money, and by promising an economically unsophisticated majority "free" government money.

Just to set the record a little straighter, it has been Senate Republicans blocking the minimum wage bill, and it was President Bush who promised to veto the increase when it was added to an Iraqi supplemental. Democrats in both the House and the Senate have been entirely behind the bill throughout. It would have reached final passage long ago but for parliamentary and other games being played by obstructionist Republicans...

Thank God it's been at least delayed.

Yeah that evil Wal-Mart that has provided hundreds of thousands of jobs and affordable products.

Great livable jobs, those Wal-mart jobs. And so good for small businesses too. Wal-mart won't have to keep prices so low once all the competition's gone.
