He was derelict of his duties as Governor of a state that is paying him a salary to not be AWOL and he lied about it. He ran on "family values" so he is not only a liar, but a hypocritical liar as well. He continues to hide behind his plastic Jesus as all good Christian hypocrites do.
Well, let me see if I can explain it to you. Your opinion on homosexuality is not shared by most people. I understand that there are many who do share your opinion but its still just that - your opinoin.
So what is the difference between homosexuality and infidelity? It gets a little tricky here so I want you to pay attention.
Infidelity has a victim!
More often than not several victims. That's why you feel sorry for Sanford and his family.
Homosexuality had no victim!
I understand that you are not homosexual. Apparently you even find homosexuality disgusting. That's fine but there is still no victim. I also understand that I am not going to change your mind. I'm just trying to explain what the difference is.
Following the events of Governor Mark Sanford, honestly, I feel bad for him, terrible in fact. I feel sorry for all those involved.
But, I feel worse for all Americans. We are all lost in twisted logic. Let me explain.
One of the most abominable sins in all of moral history is homosexuality. The broad American public at large however, is asked to except this at large. One of the hottest political subjects and arguments today is that of the gay rights, and gay marriages. Something that throughout the world’s history has been known to be horrid and twisted. Uch!
Unfortunately, Governor Sanford succumbed to a hearts desire. Is it wrong? Yes! Is it normal….. Well far more normal then two men living together.
Now if Americans can quietly digest the disgust and filth of public homosexuality, why can the governor not be understood and forgiven.
Or am I missing something? Is it that he was not caught with another man.
May G-D forgive us all.

He was in trouble because he's a lying scumbag. Just like Larry Craig, John Edwards and Ted Haggard were lying scumbags, so was this jerk. When you're the governor of a "family values" state like him, and you do what he did, you deserve the backlash.

Just stuff and nonsense....why is homosexuality even brought up here and for you and you alone....I mean NO offence to my straight brothers and sisters....."Leave it to Breeders".....now you and you alone have your answer. Can we strart a new feature at City-Data? Can we 'take" away reputation points...would be fun to see some hateful people who feed off of evil and hysteria to plunge into "negative numbers"...LOL. yes, he is, as we all will. My suggestion, instead of "fighting back" (in a personal, not a political way) against the "rigid minded, the brainwashed, the just plain s****d" ; we should be compassionate with them. . . why? because they (and we) WILL "reap what we sow"!

I read and understand many of the reasons listed. I'm sorry for trying to draw a moral comparison from Homosexuality.
I was wondering- now that so many thin/feel that he is so wrong, is there any way to somehow forgive, and let live? No one tried at all to find any merits at all.
As humans, fellow Americans, can we each try to find just one merit to sustain a man who dug himself into terrible, deep trouble.
If he was your best friend, what would you say on his behalf?
I would say: Mark, seek forgiveness, come clean, and stop/ seek counseling.
