I've got no problem with it if there are others as well.

I'm just saying I kind of expected those from the left to stay consistent in the bashing of religion.

Not a fan of religion intermingling with Government but this is kind of an extreme case. It's not like someone plopped it up recently. They'd have to knock down a building with a crapload of history to get rid of it.

Oh I know what you're saying. Just really waiting to see if there will be consistency from some of the regulars.
Its obviously there to stay. And I dont have a problem with it. I mean there are other "statues" or whatever from other religions up there as well if im not mistaken. So its not like one religion is getting preference over another.

I like religious art. Studied it in college, briefly, so I have a little understanding of the meaning behind the sculptures. All it stands for is the progression of law with different cultures and though we may not 'rule' by the Qu'ran, there is no doubt in my mind that it has had a great impact (good or bad) in said culture.

I also don't mind the 10 commandments. I am a non-religious Atheist, but I can understand that the commandments in essence were around looooooooong before Christianity. Religion has a way of stealing things, twisting them, and claiming that they thought of it.

So no, as a 'leftie, I don't mind the statues at all.

OK, people, it's not a procession of religious leaders, it's a procession of law givers.

And learn something, for God's sake.

I think we're technologically advanced enough at this point that we could remove part of a stone frieze without tearing down an entire building.

But are we emotionally advanced enough at this point that we could get beyond the mob-rule impulse you're advocating?
