I just had a lovely conversation with Patrick Kennedy, and he said that President Obama is going to have some very nice things to say about his father in tonight's speech, so be sure to tune in.

I did pass on my best wishes. This has been an extremely difficult and emotional year for him, as anyone who's watched a loved-one suffer through a debilitating and painful illness would know. He's a human being, just like the rest of us, not immune from some of its pitfalls and doing the best he can to deal with an extremely trying time. And imagine if you had to go through what he's been through, in the public eye. Not even your grief is private. It's a lot to carry on anyone's shoulders. Your best wishes should be extended.
