Here's a truly great debate: Why are there like 20 threads in multiple forums dedicated to discussing the life of an eccentric, talented but washed up pop star?
He's not a hero. He is just an entertainer. I guess in todays celebrity soaked culture we can't even tell the difference anymore.
Wear odd ball clothes...no sense of style other then to wear non comforming attire.
All the odd ones...monkees...zeplon...beatles and misc rockers all wear the styles to attract attention.
Am I being NEGATIVE?...NOPE... just pointing out a reality of what is going on in entertainment?.
Bound to be a ton of people disagreeing with me...does it bother me?...NOPE...theres bound to be a few who agree with me.
As I read of all the deaths of the entertainers???...I know that I was around decades before they were born and will still be here later on after they are all gone.
I'm surprised that the Flags are not at Half Mast like they are for HEREOS.
Many think he was a HERO...never heard of him saving a life. (will not refer to the children law suits).
Side Note;
Heard today that QB Steve McNair was shot and killed in Nashville.
He was not a Hero but a respected NFL player who many will remember his time in football.

To some fans he was a hero and that is great for them.
John Lennon was mine so to speak for my own reasons.
MJ was a true talent, let each fan do their own thing and let it be.
Top ten reasons why a person is ineligible to be a hero.
10. I didnt like the way he parted his hair.
9. I wouldn't have wanted to have sex with him.
8. He didn't wear a US flag lapel pin.
7. He could speak English correctly, like some smarty pants.
6. He could speak another language, too, like some illegal alien.
5. The tabloids said he was secretly fat.
4. He was known to be creepy, it was proven.
3. He went to a Muslim country voluntarily.
2. Rush Linbaugh couldn't learn to pronounce his name correctly.
1. He picked his nose.
You should send this to David Letterman ; he would really like this material.
He was certainly a great entertainer and musical talent. But he was so odd there at the end. He seemed to abandon a specific gender identity as well as a racial identity. In a way that made him be set apart from the rest of the world and I guess it added to his notoriety. But a hero? No. How about a celebrity?

hero and celebrity are becoming, increasingly, to be the same thing to a lot of people. Actual accomplishments off the stage are irrelevant. Most real heroes are quite anonymous and prefer it thus. While an entertainer/celebrity may be inspirational in many ways the ability to inspire is not heroic in and of itself. Admirable, yes, heroic, no. The term heroism implies bravery and selflessness. Bravery is not the lack of fear , but being scared to death and still doing what must be done and that is selfless. Singing and dancing well is neither brave nor selfless. Merely entertaining.
Hereos don't give wine to children. Heroes don't sleep naked in bed with little boys. Heroes don't watch child porn. Heroes are comfortable in their own skin.
so NO he was not A HERO.
He made music, didn't save lives.
Jackson was an energetic performer but , in all honesty, what kind of a human being was he in real life? Certainly not a hero.
You have absolutely no idea what he was like in real life. For exactly the reason that you stated---his public image was so manipulated. So it is not fair for you to assert that he was not worthy of admiration.
Everybody though John F. Kennedy was a "hero", but I have no reason whatsoever to believe that he was a better person in real life than Michael Jackson.
Some Sources have reported Micheal Jackson as a Hero ; should he be considered as such ?
A hero? Yeah for every drug addict and pedophile that has ever walked the earth!
