Many of you remember the Republican congressional class of '94, the moralizing, the "under new management" photo op with Newt in front of the capital, the "we are the family values" party. Ah, such heady days, the power and the glory.

But, where are they now.

Lots of them, or their spouses left quickly. Within a year of getting sworn in 4 of them were divorced. Some other notables:

Newt (eating ain't cheating) Gingrich; not a member of the incoming class, but used their power to get elevated to Speaker. Resigned under ethics cloud.

Tom (bug-killer) Delay; also not an incoming Freshman then, but elevated to Majority whip. Resigned after ethics findings went against him.

Joe (Morning Joe on MSNBC) Scarborough; yeah, the same guy who talks out of both sides of his face, but usually the right side, on the "oh so liberal MSNBC". Resigned amid too much publicity about his "multiple affairs with staffers" fueled divorce. Later joked on Imus' show about the death of one of his staffers. Creep.

Mark ("Down Argentine Way") Sanford; not much to mention about this dirtbag. Pick up any newspaper this week.

Mark ("paging Congressman") Foley; Not that long ago, but some of the righties on here could not yet read when this creep went away in 2006.

Jim Bunn; from Oregon. Within a year of taking office he divorced his wife and married one of his staffers, then elevated her to chief of staff. The voters said "thanks, but no thanks" and voted him out after one term

Enid Greene; first female congresswoman from Utah. It turns out that her husband, who she'd married a year before the election, embezzled millions of dollars to finance her campaign. She did not run for reelection, so, thank you for that Enid.

Steven LaTourette; from Ohio, got divorced when his wife accused him of having an affair with his chief of staff, who he then married.

On the Senate side things weren't much better. Rod Grams a former House member who moved up to the Senate in '94, divorced his wife and married a staffer. His much publicized divorce was a big factor in his being a one term Senator.

Now when the Republicans look at their "bench" and see a bunch of "short hitters" and "no bat, no glove" double A players, they wonder what went wrong? Maybe it's because they are a bunch of over moralizing, can't keep it zippered, God squaders, who couldn't answer the question; "how are you going to keep them in your bed, once they've had some of that city pu**y".

As the great song in Evita says; "So do up your trousers and go"
