An excellent commentary by Ms Noonan, and, I think, something that should be regarded as an instruction manual regardless of political party.
In the past few elections, we have been presented with candidates on both sides who meet these descriptions far too well:
"She wasn't thoughtful enough to know she wasn't thoughtful enough."
"But she is a ponder-free zone. She can memorize the names of the presidents of Pakistan, but she is not going to be able to know how to think about Pakistan. Why do her supporters not see this? Maybe they think "not thoughtful" is a working-class trope!"
"Actually, it's arguable that membership in the self-esteem generation harmed her. For 30 years the self-esteem movement told the young they're perfect in every way. It's yielding something new in history: an entire generation with no proper sense of inadequacy."
It is time for some serious introspection on all sides.
The Republican party in this day in age supports Liberty...but it's mainly the Liberty of Big Money Interests to make a killing...even if it leaves the rest of us broke. And they appeal to individuals by waxing poetically about how their liberty is threatened by the Big Bad Government. Meanwhile, if we just cut taxes for the rich and let the Big Money Interests do anything they want without any strings attached, enough crumbs will trickle down to the huddled masses to keep them happy and not to question what's really going on.
The Republican party needs to show that they're really about the well-being of individuals and not Of Big Money, By Big Money and For Big Money.
I could not have said it better!
I might add we have recently experienced 8 yrs. of some peoples idea of "liberty".
"Levi Johnston, 19, whose wedding to Bristol Palin was called off earlier this year, says he believes the governor is resigning over personal finances.
Johnston says he lived with the Palin family from early December to the second week in January. He claims he heard the governor several times say how nice it would be to take advantage of the lucrative deals that were being offered, including a reality show and a book."
Levi Johnston? LOL Whatever he says must be right!
But lets suppose he is right. Would anyone care to discuss how many politicians have used their position in the spotlight to enrich themselves?
Before the liberals go off the deep end on this, they need to first answer this simple question.
Levi has movie and book deals in the works. He is going after money as well.
