I live among these types of people. All the bravado and bs they spew just makes for a more unlivable community. I know that I'm in way more danger from one of them trying to play hero if I scream at night because I see a spider than I am from an actual bogeyman.
OMG ,scary, I could see it, you scream due to large spider and then bullets start flying!!! What is with some people? LOL
LOL... it's really not that extreme. Rainy and I have very different views of living in the same place; she does not like much about it and I like a lot of things about it. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION there are not as many nutcases around here as she believes. However, there certainly are a few! Actually, AK is far more responsible in general than many states about gun ownership because we deal with them every day; it's not like guns are a foreign, unknown thing; most hunters know exactly what bullets do and how careful to be with a gun.
Are you actually saying you trust parents to teach their children how to handle guns?
If the parents know what they are doing who better to show their kids. My kids have been shooting since they were 7 and know exactly were the bullet will wound something or kill it.
They enjoy hunting each year and never even consider touching the guns, unless an adult is around or it's hunting season!!

Yeah, who the he** else would you trust?? Unless you believe all parents are reckless, stupid turds?
I also know it much, much better than you do, AKgrl, and could tell you things about people here that you have know way of knowing--and some things that you may or may not know. Such as the fact that one of your co-workers is a convicted child molester. Waste of my tax dollars to support that scum, in my not at all humble opinion.

Oh I can imagine there wouldnt be so much emphisis on owning the gun, just the way things are. Here in AZ, man it is getting scary. Some guy is going around with a gun breaking into homes after parents leave and raping young girls. these poor girls are sound asleep then wham some nutjob on them. My daughter is only 10 and already been to a self defense class, and has some gun training ( as much as you can do at this age) she will have more when she gets older!! We are movingto the rocies next week, now I am more worried about bears!!!! But I think I am covered two guns and a cross-bow!!
PS always wanted to visit Alaska, I hear it is beautiful.

Just remember that Kip Kinkel's (Thurston High, May 21, 1998) father felt the same way.
Further, in my opinion, the vast majority of gun owners and/or gun carriers are either consciously or subconsciously submitting to the commercialism promoted by the NRA, not true self defense proponents.
Have you been to an NRA meeting or convention were they promote gun safety?? Targeted for women and children.
