Obaman actually told the Republicans to stop listening to Limbaugh. Something to the effect of "Ya can't listen to Limbaugh and expect to get along", not an exact quote but close.
Not even close. I said mine was "words to that effect" but I'm waaaaay close than you! At least you didn't say "I heard it with my own ears" like you do on the rest of these.

Quote:
As for the comment about 57 states, he did not correct himself, and he said it on more than one occassion. I heard it with my own ears, and there was not correction.
I didn't know that you spent last summer listening that closely to Obama's speeches. Or was it just the cropped ones that Fox played on a loop?

Quote:
Palin did deliver that speech with out a telepromter, because the telepromter quit. This was reported at the time it happened.
I started to say this was complete BS on your part, but instead I'll just call shenanagins on you. Let me just put up something from an ABC news article by Jake Tapper (who is often criticized by the left, BTW);

Quote:
At a fundraiser in Canton, Ohio, this evening, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had an interesting description of her speech to the Republican convention.
“There Ohio was right out in front, right in front of me," Palin said. "The teleprompter got messed up, I couldn’t follow it, and I just decided I’d just talk to the people in front of me. It was Ohio.”

This struck many of us -- who, as she spoke, followed along with her prepared remarks, and noted how closely she stuck to the script -- as an unusual claim. (Especially those of my colleagues on the convention floor at the time, reading along on the prompter with her, noticing her excellent and disciplined delivery, how she punched words that were underlined and paused where it said "pause," noting that "nuclear" was spelled out for her phonetically.
Again, once it's received wisdom for "low information folks, it's got to be TRUE!

Quote:
Al Gore did indeed say he "invented the internet". I heard that one with my own ears too, and my wife and I roared with laughter.
Again, I didn't realize that you spent your days (back when you were in your early teens) listening this closely to Al Gore. Please, go review what he actually said ("I worked on legislation to help it along, etc"), not what Rush Limbaugh told you he said.

Quote:
Myth of Reaganism? Please. Nothing could be clearer than the restoration of the economy after Jimmy Carter due to Reagans tax cuts and other policies.
1. Reagan raised taxes after he cut them.
2. Did you never hear of the business cycle?
3. Have you ever looked at a timeline of gasoline prices? Do you think that may have had something to do with it.

It's nice to see that nononseguy is willing to step up and offer further evidence supporting my theory. Kind of like the "validation" of urban myths; "it was my uncles, next door neighbor's hairdresser who; microwaved her poodle, had a choking doberman, went to sleep in their van with the cruise control on, impaled herself on her boyfriend's Hurst shifter, found a hook hanging on the passenger door handle" nononseguy "heard them all with his own ears".

No, Al Gore did NOT SAY he invented the internet.

He said he CREATED IT.

Exactly. During his time in Congress, he took the initiative in creating the Internet. The actual inventors of the Internet agree with Gore, too.

Thanks for providing the proof that the right is lying, and making yourself look like the jackass at the end of your video, too.

This is the same thing I've been thinking lately,
the right wing media (most of the media) keeps on creating non-existing issues and left wing boogie men.

Here's a few examples off the top of my head:
- Lefties want to take our guns away
Truth = most lefties want guns to be registered just like anything else that can kill somebody (cars, motorcycles, trucks, etc)
- Lefties want to socialist our health care system
Truth = we want insurance companies to be socialized (Legalized robbery, people are forced to give them money for a service and when is time for them to provide that service they will do everything possible to not do it)
- Lefties want to force us to drive Hybrid
Truth = while computers went from the size of refrigerators to the size of a wallet, american car companies have not improved the fuel efficiency of their cars. The less gasoline we buy, the less money Middle Eastern countries get.

You can look through this thread to see what is said on both sides. Yes, both sides.

Liberals say----"Conservatives are undereducated rednecks, inbred hicks."

Conservatives say----"Liberals are elitist pigs who hate America and all it stands for."

Are we all Americans or just self interest groups?

If we are not America, one nation under God then we are America, one nation gone under.

I fear we are heading for the second one.

Thumbs down Things that the right accepts as "received wisdom".

Really, it's just about anything their chickenhawk mouthpieces (Limbaugh, Cheney, Gingrich, O'Reilly, Hannity, Weiner-Savage, Beck - not a single day of military service among the entire bunch) tell them with any authority in their tone of delivery.

So many of their followers just uncritically accept the lies, half-truths and baseless accusations as facts.

Just today I've read the following put forth as valid arguments and criticisms on here, but please add more as you think of them.

"Obama called out Limbaugh personally". His actual words to the R leaders of the Congress were along the lines of; "do you want to go along with the will of the voters or continue to follow everything that Rush Limbaugh says".

"Obama thinks there are 57 states". I guess no one else has ever gone on a marathon speaking tour and gotten ahead of themself. FYI he corrected himself immediately.

"Palin delivered her convention speech without a teleprompter". Right, no more than 50 million or so Americans were watching the words scroll up the screen.

"Al Gore said he invented the internet". Right, not even close to what he said.

I know there are lots more out there, so can you help me build a database for handy reference.

You cant expect to bash Bush, Palin, etc on the right when they have speaking errors and not have your BFF's get bashed.

I'm no longer right or left, but in many ways, Obama is stupid. The media is not going to report on his lack of knowledge. Unfortunately, you have to go to places like Yutube to actually see and hear from his own mouth just how stupid he is. If any of this stuff had been reported before the election, I'm still not sure it would have made a difference. Change is good, but I don't think we're going to like what's coming.
