Wow! Another naive post. I'll bet not even the presidential directives would wavier your rhetoric. Not your fault though since liberals don't like to talk about the history that doesn't hold them in high regards. No problems, your swagger is common place with your crowd.

Do you wish the cold war carry on, just for telling the frigging commies, "YOU LOST"???
Do you wish, the sons, daughters, wife's, husbands, goto war and possibly DIE whilst you sit in your potatoe couch laughing, all because you wanted someone to go upto the commie president "US beat you"
Do you wish a WW3 and have lots of lives erradicated in a heart beat whilst "YOU" sit in your potatoe couch all because you wanted to hear someone say "We in the FREE world (If that means anything anymore) beat your commie a$ses"
Are "YOU" even man enough to enlist and endure pain beyond comprehension and see your miserable life unfold before you in your last moments here on earth just to hear someone say "We beat your commie a$ses"
And....all this will happen if obama gives credit to his country for winning the Cold War?
Take a deep breath - we could do without the hysterics.
It's Obama in his own words from his own mouth....
The clips of Obama speaking are strategically edited. The edits are clearly visible in at least two spots*. Did you ever wonder what Obama ACTUALLY said that Hannity had edited out of the clip? Of course you didn't, and SURELY Hannity would never edit Obama's words to make him look foolish.
*Edits at the 31 second mark and at the 47 second mark.
GARRETT: In your speech this morning, you said the Cold War reached its conclusion because of the actions of many nations over many years. Mr. President, are the Russian sensitivities so fragile that you can't say the Cold War was won? The West won it? And it was led by a combination of Democratic and Republican American presidents?
OBAMA: Well, listen, the -- I think that you just cut out Lech Walesa and the Poles. You just cut out Havel and the Czechs. There were a whole bunch of people throughout Eastern Europe who showed enormous courage.
And I think that it is very important in this part of the world to acknowledge the degree to which people struggled for their own freedom. I'm very proud of the traditions of Democratic and Republican presidents to lift the Iron Curtain.
But, you know, we don't have to diminish other people in order to recognize our role in that history.
Why are you folks so damn certain the "Cold War" is over? I think it has morfed into a trade war that is being won hands down by COMMUNIST China. At least it still calls itself communist even as it acts like a Robber Baron Capitalist. The "Cold War" is not over and we have not yet won.
Which is exactly what the so-called conservatives in this board want to do... insult Russia by suggesting we won, you lost.
But then, I've come to expect nothing less from them. Building bridges for a better future is not something they want... it is all about having a pokey-nosey and creating friction, polarizing the world into "good and evil".
The only people in the world who believe that Ronald Reagan was responsible for the breakup of the Soviet Union are American right-wingers. The only people in the world who believe that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the breakup of the Soviet Union are Muslim right-wingers. Their capacities for self-delusion may not be the only thing these two groups share...
Well them and all the authors and actors...

Let me get this straight. If we recognize our role in winning the Cold War, we diminish others?
This man is extremely UN-American. The lengths he will go to to prove to the world we are no better than any other nation is appalling.
We (Reagan) were instrumental in bringing an end to the Cold War. There is nothing to be ashamed in that.
Obama seems to carry around quite a bit of shame for America's past.
The man is truly heinous.
The US was also instrumental in creating the cold war, pro-longing the cold war . . . Only natural that we would be involved in ending the cold war. Did we really win? What did we win? Not everyone shares your perspective; Obama's POV is no less valid than yours. Try some introspection and you might be more open minded. Maybe not.
Saying "We kicked your sorry asses!" is bad diplomacy.
Russian students know damn well who won and lost.

Now that it's been pointed out that the clip (and your transcript) has been heavily edited, will you adjust your point of view? Obama clarified that "I'm very proud of the traditions of Democratic and Republican presidents to lift the Iron Curtain."

Well, some would say that Gorbachev (and Walesa, and Havel) played the pivotal role. They did more, with less, and at a much, much higher personal risk.
Reagan, to his credit, didn't mess it up when he easily could have. (It may sound like luke-warm praise, but it isn't. There was thousands of ways that US interference could have caused problems, and it didn't happen. Credit where credit's due.)
"We often disagreed on issues of the day, but I had immense respect and admiration for his leadership and his extraordinary ability to inspire the nation," Kennedy said. "On foreign policy, he will be honored as the president who won the Cold War."
