What's really sad, is that even you can't believe what you're spewing.
You do it just to spew.

All of your fear of Obama is based on conjecture and Fox fear mongering.
Is he doing everything right? Of course not.
Do I have concerns? Of course I do.
I'm just not rabid like some of your side seems to be.

Is that all you can fling?
Let's see, Bush:

http://www.antiwar.com/casualties/

DATE / TOTAL / IN COMBAT
American Deaths
Since war began (3/19/03): - 4324 / - 3463
Since "Mission Accomplished" (5/1/03) - 4185 / - 3355
Since Capture of Saddam (12/13/03): - 3863 / - 3158
Since Handover (6/29/04): - 3465 / - 2830
Since Obama Inauguration (1/20/09): - 96 /- 29
American Wounded Official /Estimated
Total Wounded: 31368 /Over 100000

Interesting outrage.
Here's where your outrage should lie; with the dead kids in an ill-conceived war and the spying on American citizens.

You're not worth reading, twitter on.
Interesting how people with holistic names are usually the most willfully ignorant.

That's true. I actually remember it being discussed back then in school classes and on TV.

Default They were of limited value....

Apparently, all of this wiretapping was of limited value.
The San Jose Mercury News morning paper had a report on this with a headline of "Review: U.S. wiretaps o flimited value in terror fight".
The byline was NY Times and I found it on the web:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/11/us...0e239b&ei=5087

From the beginning of the article... the bolding was by me:

WASHINGTON — While the Bush administration had defended its program of wiretapping without warrants as a vital tool that saved lives, a new government review released Friday said the program’s effectiveness in fighting terrorism was unclear.

The report, mandated by Congress last year and produced by the inspectors general of five federal agencies, found that other intelligence tools used in assessing security threats posed by terrorists provided more timely and detailed information.

I don't think this story is over by any stretch of the imagination.

And how much of your precious freedoms are you willing to forfeit? If you don't complain now, they will continue to be usurped, removed, denied...

Can't you see that such complacency puts us in a far more perilous situation? Because at some point, the government will consider all of us the enemy. And we won't have anything to stop them. Will that be good enough for you? Will that "safety" help you when you have no say in anything? The name of the game is control and it is best won by using fear.

There are a finite number of major switching stations for the transmission of digital data. All data including analog phone signals are converted to digital for transmission. The government under Bush put taps on these switches in order to capture all of the digital data running through them. This includes telephone and Internet traffic. This data is fed into huge government computers where it is mined.

This is not a whacko theory, friends. This is what they are doing and they are still doing it. That's the big secret but its not hard to figure out.

These surveillance programs have been taking place for quite a long time, under all administrations. And Obama, even if he were to try, could not change it. However, years into the future, a portion (not all) of what is taking place right now will be declassified.

While the headlines, on there face, seem upsetting, as others have pointed out, how much of this is new news? And is there any proof any data or information developed from this program was misused by any gov't official?

One thing that's new is that we now know that George W. Bush was personally involved in trying to coerce an ailing John ******** into signing paperwork that would extend the surveillance program. Bush repeatedly called ******** and his wife as ******** laid in his hospital bed, barely able to speak.

What freedoms have been forfeited?

As was mentioned already, wiretapping (with and without court-approved warrants) was being done long before Bush was in office.

Avoiding another terrorist attack is well worth having suspicious or suspect telephone calls tapped.
