I don't like the way this was done. Unfortunately, it undermines the whole purpose of the legal action and certainly diminishes the outcome.
Having said that, I don't understand why it doesn't seem to bother even the most liberal voter that there are none of Obama's records available to the public. There was a senate hearing to determine whether or not McCain was eligible, but Obama gets a free pass. If he were Republican you would be the people up in arms about eligibility and the left leaning press would be all over this issue. Double standards abound here and dangerous ones at that.
The way I read it, he is absolutely not a natural born citizen. The founders wanted to make sure that, going forward, there was, at birth, no allegiance to any other nation. Obama's father was from Kenya and therefore a British citizen. He conferred dual citizenship upon his son which equals dual allegiance - henceforth no "natural born" status. It matters not that the citizenship expired, it existed at birth.
Before he enacts further legislation that is constitutionally questionable (limited powers given to government) shouldn't we have the right to a fair hearing to determine his eligibility?
Those on the far left will lose just as many rights under Obama as those on the right - why continue to cover for him when it should be an easy matter to resolve. Is "the party" and the retention of power more important than the legal eligibility of a man who has already shown that he has no respect, and even less knowledge, of the Constitution. Obviously, and sadly, it is.
He has, to date, spent hundreds of thousand of dollars to hide anything that shows who he really is. He is quickly proving himself to be the most ignorant, self important, incompetent, dangerous and immoral man ever to hold the office. The grab for unprecedented power by this administration is disgraceful, especially because it is done without a care at all for the
American people.
Stimulus, Cap and Trade, Healthcare "Reform" - taking over of private business and banks -
okay by the Constitution? The founders would be turning over in their graves to see this
disgrace. At the very least we owe it to them to have him prove he is eligible to serve in the office that they held so dear and fought so hard for.

The birthers keep bringing up the same tired arguements. That those arguements have been disproved time after time doesn't effect them whatsoever. They are either incapable of reading or of understanding the proof that their arguements are without merit. In their narrow little world it comes down to this; "Obama is black. Obama does not have an Anglo-Saxon name. Obama can not be a real American." It is honestly that simple. If it were not then they would have taken the time by now to have read all the legal findings that have been linked to the many threads about this, read the many links to the historical backgrounds on other presidents, read the links to the statements from officals in Hawaii who have actually SEEN the birth certificate, read the links to the legal explanations of "natural born citizen." They have either been unwilling or unable to do their homework. They just can't grasp that a black man with the name Obama IS THE PRESIDENT AND HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE.

Sadly, I think that many of the birthers would rather see our country destroyed than acknowledge that their president is a black man with the name Barack Obama.
