Please read this story of this man who had to come to the USA to get Chemo drugs because the Canadian goverment would not provide them. He passed away this year.
To the OP: Pointing out a flaw in the Canadian system does not constitute an argument in favor of the US system.
At least if you have private insurance you will get treatment. In Canada if you have goverment insurance you have to wait 3 months to get a c-scan to see if you have cancer then more waiting to get treatment or surgery.
Tell that to the lady whose mom had her legs amputated because she had to wait a year for surgery. Oh wait, that would require you to actually watch the video.
Tell that to the 50,000,000 uninsured in the US. Tell that to those denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions. Tell that to those who can't afford the premiums and deductibles, but pay them anyway. Tell that to those who lose their jobs. Tell that to small businesses, which are strangled by exhorbitant costs to cover employees.
Anyone can find a flaw and say, "Lookie here!" One woman in Canada is not an argument in favor of the US system.
The US bears the brunt of the financial burden on new drugs, it could have been a drug trial, it could have been alot of things since we don't have the news source.
The drug companies RAPE the US, once they have squeezed all the money out of us they can, they will release new drugs elsewhere. They are more leary now because they know people are crossing boarders to get medication.
Credit the drug company with this mans death, not the Canadian health system.
If the drug was still in the experimental stages and he could get in a drug trial here, of course the Canadian government could do nothing.
So you think that the video is staged? All those people?
I didn't watch the video, I judge the Canadian health care system from my own personal experiences and have no complaints. I don't know anything about your system, my father moved our family to Canada when I was 8 years old.....smart man my father!

My best friend moved his family to Canada 3 years ago and he also loves the Canadian system. I lived in Europe and Japan and had great experiences with the care I recieved while there. The only people that think the US system is better are the people that have never lived outside of the US, or the people who are benefiting from our current system. Fact is, the US approach to health care delivery is killing small business and causing larger companies to be less profitable. It's not sustainable. It's time to change it.
