Fundraising picks up for GOP hopefuls - Washington Post- msnbc.com

Quote:
WASHINGTON - Shut out of power across the capital and facing a 60-vote Democratic majority in the Senate, Republican candidates are working to balance the scales in at least one vital category — campaign cash.

Reports filed last week with the Federal Election Commission showed GOP hopefuls in some key Senate contests posting strong fundraising totals for the second quarter of 2009, putting them in position to try to halt their party's recent losing streak.

We have to have campaign finance reform. That goes for both sides of the aisle. There will always be corruption prompted by the ridiculous amount of funds that is required for a candidate to campaign. They are literally fund raising all of the time, every day with little time left to do the necessary work for the people. Other countries set guidelines and boundaries for what a cadidate can spend on their campaign. It is out of control here and gives the lobbyists for the corporatists too much damn power.

+1

The GOP is going to need a record amount of money to take back the White House. I think there will be a strong and very conservative third party that will emerge which will divide the GOP vote. It will be a Perot factor x2.
