Put a cap on malpractice lawsuits.
Result? Costs will go down...whoa. What a concept.
But our president is AGAINST something that makes any sense.
GO FIGURE.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Bring costs down with serious TORT reform. When doctors need 1/4 of their salary for malpractice insurance, then something is wrong with our litigious society. Doctors are so afraid of being sued that many of them are ordering unnecessary tests to cover their asses, just so they do not get sued.

If a patient comes in to his office with a cough, a doctor may as well run tests for swine flu, tuberculosis, throat cancer, and bubonic plague, just to be on the safe side. It costs the doctor nothing for the tests, and he will not get sued.

I want a well thought out and intelligent way to bring costs down, and not some pipe dream to make them go away, by creating a government program which swallows up the huge costs.

I understand there are many threads about this topic but none of them are really a place where people express what they want done.
It's mainly people attack Obama (and not Congress) for their ideas.
I figured this would be better....

If you feel there are too many threads on the topic, why did you come in and comment?

Cap malpractice lawsuits.
Let small businesses pool together for a CO-OP insurance coverage
Keep Govt's greasy hands OFF of medical and whatever few pieces of private industry remaining in this country.
