I only dug it because the conservative hero Neal Boortz was griping about it today.

It gets irritating when people gripe about the 'private jet' industry.... yeah, it has a bad rep, I'll admit that. There's also a TON of people behind the scenes of that private jet that keep things smooth.... dispatchers, caterers, car rental companies, truck drivers that deliver gas, people at the refining plant, maintenance mechanics, interior specialists, engineers, painters, fabricators etc etc...

So every time someone ******* about the 'fat cats' and their private jets, try to think of the peons like me who make a living servicing these things.

I am not griping about them. I just want them to pay their fair share like we who fly on regular planes have to pay. Why should they get a free ride on our backs? They should pay for Air Traffic Control and Airports the same as Delta or United has to pay.

It's more envy than anything, yesterday it was boats. It's SUVs every day. And overpaid union members. And small businessmen. And big business.

They do. I don't know where you get the idea that general aviation, including private jets, doesn't pay fees because they do. At some smaller facilities the small planes (Cessnas, etc.) don't but those places are few and far between.

Just a quick message to the overburdened poor and middle class.

Before you whine on about the evil rich you need to get your facts straight.

Top 50% of wage earners, those earning $31,987 or more, paid 97.01% of federal all taxes.

The bottom 50% of wage earners, those earning less than $31,987, paid a whopping 2.99% of all federal taxes.

Top 25% of wage earners, those earning $64,702 or more, paid 86.27% of all federal taxes.

Going further the top 5% of wage earners, those making $153,542 or more, paid 60.14% of all federal taxes.

Obviously the poor and middle class, those earning less than $31,987 per year, are bearing the heaviest burden when it comes to paying taxes and to make the burden of a 2.99% tax rate less the rich need to pay more.

Ok, you can whine on about the evil rich people now.

But fuel, LL100, is selling for anywhere between $3.75 and $5.00 a gallon now and there are federal taxes in that that go to the aviation trust fund.

There are those, too. He's talking about landing fees. Like the "free" roads we in pick ups drive on (gas tax, license fees, inspection fees), the "free" public land we hunt on (licenses and stamps, Pittman-Robertson tax on hunting and fishing equipment).
