Please cite the law against making racist comments, to a police officer or anyone else.

Bam with a devilish spark to his demeanor about this little exchange, and delighted in defending his good pal "Skip". D*mn cameras catch everything these days. He is an absolute racist to the core. He married one, he sat in the pews for 20 years listening to one. And I agree, this of course was a big power play by our prez. He is not able to be "objective"...look around at who his "associates" are and have been.

Should they have arrested a frightened and insulted old man, to show him who was boss once and for all?

Please site the law against entering a mans home to follow up a burglary complaint.

By the way, an incindiery string of comments CAN technically be called assault, a crime

wow...how this childish exchange between a police officer and and a college professor has everyone to come out with their fictional stories. I continue to see writings about the President being a racists from CD but NO ONE including yourself have YET to provide one racists act or comment from this President.
I've seen writings about about Wright being a racists and gave racists rants for over 20 years, but could only provide 1 rant video against america and 1 rant video against blacks. So maybe you could provide these video's or racial comments from the President...

One is all it takes really.

Correction: One RANT is all it takes really.

Your comment stated that he attended for 20 years. So NO 1 IS NOT ALL IT TAKES.

No, but maybe they should've arrested a belligerent and uncooperative man of any age.

Professor Gates is smart enough to know the consequences of his behavior. He's also smart enough to know his rights under the law, or to politely ask the officer what they were. "Do I have a right to deny you entry into my home?" If yes, then he should have thanked the officer for checking on his home and closed the door. Incident over.

The man wasn't being personally targeted -- his home was being checked on for a possible home invasion in progress. Why wasn't he grateful that his neighbors and the police actually give a flick about his home and property?

I hate it when peope try to deflect because they dont like the answer to a question.

By your attempt to deflect I'll take it you admit that there isnt a law against "racist comments."

The police were just saving face by arresting this old man who dared to talk back. I realize they have a right, and they should, BUT. This was an old man in his own home -- an old black man.

Okay, so these cops are naturally insensitive people. Then a little training in compassion could avert tragedy in some later instance.

I'll bet they are quietly assigned to it, too, for the protection of the department.
