Consensus..enough people say it then it becomes fact ?
Doesn't make it right though and doesn't make it "a fact" either.
I have always believed that if "social might" is correct in the face of injustice and freedom, then so is "might" alone. If a group of people can create their own laws in the face of justice (a gang of thugs due to their numbers enforcing their will) then I also think that a person with the ability be it by any means should also be able to enforce their will as well.
Bring a group of people to tell me how to live? Well, I mow them all down with a 50 cal and I get to decide myself. Same concept, they just haven't had the light bulb come on that it is.
Social might makes right then? Yep, Madison and Jefferson spoke greatly about the corruption of the mob to serve their individual interests over that of the public.quote]
Madison and Jefferson were both slave owners.
They have been dead for a long time, along with most of their ideas.
SCREW THE CONSTITUTION! Its just a piece of paper. (or at least thats what I say when I want to get my way)
Keep going on your path, you will be there with them. This is the nature of oppression, may the comfort of twine and tree give your comfort.
That's just crazy, and ignores US History from 1890-Present.
That's our post-frontier period, so there was no more land to steal from the Indians- which was Madison and Jefferson's main idea for keeping society in check, prior to that.
Part of the problem - a large part of the debate is, MANDATING that you HAVE to have insurance or be fined.
IF, there was NO MANDATE - NO FINE provisions - you might be surprised at the support health care legislation would get.
Our Constitution is about FREEDOM - Mandating something like this on a federal level is opposite of freedom.
10th amendment has nothing to do with it.
Can you convince us why health care should not fall under General Welfare clause like Navy falls under Common Defence? Providing common defence is a mandate for the government. The Constitution ORDERS the government to provide common defence, just like it ORDERs it to provide General Welfare. So what is General Welfare, and why should health care not be included in it? I have heard arguments for and against, but I haven't heard anything from you, except that the Constitution is about freedom. It is not about just about freedom, it is a rulebook for the government, with some additions about personal freedoms for the citizens. The Constitution orders the government to perform certain tasks, and it authorizes them to perform others.
Anything is a right when you don't have to pay for it yourself. When you have to pay for it, it becomes an expense.
