I do not think it is any of your business about my parents at all. I see what you are trying to do.
My Dad paid into the SS for 45 years and Mom 40 years and deserves it to be paid back.
With his and moms whopper 9000 per month pension checks and another 1100 Army Pension they do not need it and often donate thousands a month to cancer or heart research from their SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS they PAID INTO it.
By the way whiners, my Mom has lung cancer right now and is fighting for her life, my Dads healthcare and 45 years of working the same job is paying for it other then the 10% out of pocket. So don't give me a song, I am sitting here seeing her die with great healthcare coverage and someone in the room next to her who have never worked a freakin day in their life getting the same or better care is bull****.
The woman in the next room is a lifer welfare case and orders up food like crazy and then sends it home with her of course welfare kids to eat. All on my money.
She deserves to be treated but should have worked like my mom did so I wont have to pay her bill.
You changed the outcome of SS so you don't have to answer the question. In reality you'll probably collect just like your parents. Did it occur to you that others who don't have medical insurance also pay taxes? The bottom line is you're a huge hypocrite. So it's ok for your parents to collect social security (and you know you will to, don't lie) but bad if tax money goes for health care? Socialism is good on your terms only, suitable to those who you see fit, and nobody else. Then you have the unmitigated gall to judge some poor soul while they lay sick in a hospital bed. You're a hypocrite and just plain mean spirited. Good thing America is moving on without people like you.
I love competition but not controlled by the government.
You surely do not want the government running it like you said they are all on the take.
We need to find a way to force competition down without the government involved.
Believe me, if anyone has lobbyist waiting around them it would be Obama.
They are not all on the take. Unfortunately, there are many and every day of every month of ever year, representatives are fund raising because in order to be in the game you have to constantly be getting the big bucks. Other nations have a ceiling on campaign finance. Campaign finance reform would be a good start in fixing much wrong in government. Alas, who knows when and if, but in the meantime, there are people that are suffering now. I can't as an empathetic human being not want to contribute to the well being to the country as a whole. We all have to live with our own conscience and that is what mine deems as moral and ethical. BTW...I really don't think Obama is best of friends with the insurance lobbyists at this juncture.

You seem confused with the SS program. Working all you life, and paying into it for 50 years entitles you to it, since YOU paid for it, same with medicare. However, people who have never worked, who have lived off welfare, foodstamps, WIC, etc, Do not deserve programs they did NOT pay into.
It's a fundamental human necessity. We've got 50 million Americans without that human necessity. While you may be void of any compassion or understanding for your fellow countrymen, the rest of the country has put a man in office that does.

First, the estimate is between 40 to 45 million in the country without health insurance
Some 12 to 15 million of this number are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS - NOT Americans.
Then, some 10 million of this number are people who VOLUNTARILY AND CONSCIOUSLY have CHOSEN not to get / buy health insurance EVEN THOUGH THEY CAN AFFORD IT.
So, we are now at 18 to 20 million Americans who, although they want health insurance, have some difficulty getting it - it might be cost, or pre-existing conditions - something.
That represents around 6% of the total US population.
Do you really think that we need to totally destroy and totally change the existing system for 6% of the population?
Yea, 50 million Americans are just lazy. Hope you don't lose your job and come down with cancer one day. If you did, I'd rather help you than tell you how lazy and stupid you are.

Personally? No, I will not be accepting Social Security or Medicare. Fact is, I cannot as I opted out of the system decades ago. I don't believe in the "system". I have not "contributed" to the "system" in more than 3 decades. Not one dime.
So will you be using medicare when you get older? Collecting social security checks? Yes or not?
