Same. I'm somewhere between right of center and far right. I agree mostly with the conservative side of issues with some notable exceptions being unions and overseas spending.
I am an in-betweener too! However, I did not consider Bill Clinton to be a "center" president. He was very much on the left to me. So I could not use that example as my guide for how to vote.
I would put far right but then I'll get grouped in with the anti-gay wackos which I don't want to be confused with. I think the "conservative" name needs to drop them and take on a more Libertarian view of fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
I don't really think of myself as a person of the left or the right: both those designations are ideologically bankrupt. "Libertarian" doesn't quite fit; and I'm not a "moderate", I have strong opinions on almost every subject. Maybe "rational anarchist" or "pragmatic anarchist" would be closest to what I am.

In what sense was Clinton a far-left president? I'm honestly puzzled by this point of view.
Clinton was neither left nor right, he was just a crass opportunist. Heck, Teddy Roosevelt was to the left of Clinton (not that I'm a fan of Teddy Roosevelt--just saying.)
Nothing wrong with that. Although I am right of center, some of the most decent people I know are to the left. It's the extremists on both sides that bother me...
Cheers to you Perkins. As well as you to the left and right; we all care about America, of that I am sure. Some of us have differing opinions on how to get there, but I have no doubt that both the left and right care about this country.
I'll vote Democrat if need be, or Republican. It depends on the person.
For example, I will and have voted for Kinky Friedman (liberal Democrat) for Texas Governor. Kinky Friedman is an honest man, and a straight shooter. Ann Richards (Rest in Peace) was the Democrat Governor of Texas in the early 90s. She was one of the best Governors in recent Texas history.
Rick Perry? A Republican and a sham. He's a political opportunist and a disgrace, and this is coming from a conservative.
Ann Richard's legacy puts "Ricky" Perry's legacy to shame. She was FOR the people and not for her own agenda. She CARED about the people of Texas and I loved her wit.

You're absolutely correct. The people who claim that Clinton was far left are the same ones who claim that President Obama is. They have an interest in dragging that Overton Window farther and farther right by mislabeling everything they can. It's knee-jerk. They can't help it.
I am a left liberal but I did not choose far left because, on some issues- such as gun rights- I am pretty conservative.
+1! You just described me. I'm a left liberal, but I do support the 2nd Amendment too.
