Well I really hope that they find a way to continue this. This is one thing I can give Obama credit for. He did good on this one. See Libs I am not so close minded that I can not give credit where credit is do.

why would you be in favor of a taxpayer funded program that was not working, unless you could benefit personally? shouldn't americans be looking at the big picture now? there may be another program out there for someone to come up with, but this one isn't working for the taxpayers.

Why do you say it is not working? Many people have traded in their older cars for newer ones which not only puts people to work (sales, car makers, etc) but it get cash flowing.

They are not "giving" us anything. That's debt. They are borrowing money to do this. We have to pay it back.

This is not creating jobs, this is subsidizing a failed industry the government took over, again with borrowed money we have to pay back.

This house of cards cannot continue like this. We're subsidizing our own debt with more debt.

Encouragement of further consumer debt, via the $4500 rebate . This is just adding fuel to the fire.

I don't know the specifics but I'd imagine these clunkers are owned outright with no loans.

So people walk in, apply $4500 towards a $15-$20K car and drive out with a new car and a 3-6 year car loan ?

This is good ?

It's simply trying to avoid asset deflation, and it's a very dangerous game.

Well it's confusing because
-consumer confidence is down
-consumer spending is down
-job losses are up
-bankruptcies are up
-foreclosures are up

And here people are flocking to dealers and buying new cars and taking out loans so much so they had to suspend and then add more money.

Such mixed signals to ponder

By what measurement was it not working? Oh let me guess - because it was implemented by the Obama Administration, right?
