OK...don't blame the kids.....just make the parents that did come here illegally and knowingly....made money here (often sent a lot of it out of the country) didn't save for their kids college....come up with the difference between in and out-of-state tuition.

Or, once any legal citizen that wants to go to college can go without having to borrow, give all that 'excess' money the US has to everybody else.

Why people are so scared of helping a few kids I will never know. There are about 3000 kids in the nation that would be able to apply for this, I'm sure 3000 kids isn't going to destroy the United States.

Most will probably take the military option as well, and whats wrong with that?

Don't let the opinion of others deter you.
I'm sure you can identify one or two of these kids and personally pay the tuition for them.

Where do you get the 3000 from ? It's a lot more than than. Go take a look at the states that do this today.

They can go to college today but would be classified as foreign students and have to pay accordingly. It's about lowering the costs to them which favors them over out of state legal citizens who would want to attend the same school.

If you are going to be really fair, then get rid of the tuition tiers. No more in state vs out of state vs foreign. Flat tuition to everyone regardless of where they came from. Favoring "undocumented immigrants" over citizens of the US ??? And people are ok with this ?

We are all Americans but only a certain percentage of us are legal US citizens. The question is what are the rights of a US Citizen and when should the "rights" of illegal aliens supersede those of the citizen? Wanting one's laws enforced is not entitlement. Expecting the country (a person has ILLEGALLY entered) to disregard your flagrant violation of the law and reward their child is an attitude of entitlement. Legally, the border jumpers are looking to claim entitlement to something which is not rightfully theirs by virtue of their criminal act.

Children of immigrants who were BORN in the USA would not benefit from DREAM because those children ARE US citizens. The anchor babies would fall into the same category as President Obama's children, as VP Joe Biden's children, as Ted Kennedy's children. The anchor baby is first generation American.

Illegal immigrant students who would benefit from the DREAM Act were NOT born here. The AM in "DREAM" stands for ALIEN MINORS. Someone who is born here is NOT an alien.

From La Raza:

If passed, the “Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act†would facilitate access to college for immigrant students in the U.S. by restoring states’ rights to offer in-state tuition to immigrant students residing in their state. The “DREAM Act†would also provide a path to citizenship for.... immigrant youth who were brought to the U.S. as young children....

Interestingly enough, La Raza fails to use the word 'illegal'. Should we consider this a minor detail?

Americans believe in FAIR play and a CHANCE for those who earn it. The Dream Act will give many Mexican children who were brought here illegally when they were babies or very young.
It ONLY applies to those who are graduating high school and wish to go on to college or the military. The applicant must have good moral charactor. Drop outs and gang members need not apply.
This is something we all need to get behind!

No, kev, we need to get behind our own kids, the US kids, first. Let the Mexkins take care of their own. Besides, it's folks like you who whine about the US giving away so much to all them damned farners.

They also LOVE to use language like "undocumented workers" and "undocumented residents."

Anything to detract from reality.

YOU pay for it if you feel so strongly.

Don't expect me to (actually, I already do, since our pro-illegal governor here in TX has granted in-state tuition to illegals, but that's beside the point. I refuse to support expansion nationwide.)

I read a story a few years ago about a young man who had put his LIFE on the line defending our country in Iraq. When he returned to Texas, he did not qualify for in-state tuition to attend school. He had to wait a year. Meanwhile, ILLEGALS are allowed in-state tuition. Pure insanity.

This young man was certainly not alone. Everyone in his position has/had to endure the same injustice. Ludicrous, if you ask me.
