Seriously, why can't we go to a "loser-pays" system to put a stop to all of these asinine lawsuits?

Grad Sues College for $70,000 Because She Can't Find a Job

Trina Thompson gave it the old college try, but couldn't find work. Now she thinks her sheepskin wasn't worth her time, and is suing her alma mater for her money back.

The Monroe College grad wants the $70,000 she spent on tuition because she hasn't found gainful employment since earning her bachelor's degree in April, according to a suit filed in Bronx Supreme Court on July 24.

So much of what ails the taxpayers (healthcare industry for instance) is rooted in the actions of self serving lawyers and superfluous litigation.

Since many lawmakers are Democrats and parasitic lawyers themselves, asking them to police themselves or reform is just a hope and a dream.

Could it be when this whiner goes on an interview they can see right through her? A lot of people are out of work right now.

Unbelievable. This is as bad as the people suing the cigarette companies for health problems (don't smoke, dummy) and the people suing McDonalds because their kids are porkers (don't eat crap and live a sedentary lifestyle, fools). I didn't get drunk enough last weekend, can I sue the brewers of the beer I was drinking?

Does anyone know what her Major field of study is? It just says "Business College" in the article. I'm willing to be she pursued a generic Bachelor of Business Administration, instead of wisely choosing a specific discipline (i.e. Accounting, Finance, Marketing, etc.).

the assertion of schools is that you will be able to gain employment with the degree that they offer. the assertion of K12 is that your child will become literate & not be physically harmed or molested in the school.
both are lying like a rug.

She should have gone to a better college or a technical school.

Schools, just like other businesses, have to be accurate in their advertising. You don't think any 'investor owned' colleges oversell the opportunities that their graduates will enjoy?

As to our legal system, it is well-known that suits with no basis get dismissed. Its hard to make a case for fraud in the inducement. A 'loser pays' system would add a terroristic effect to access to our courts and just mean that only folks with more money would sue.

She should just become a community activist, the possibilities are endless.

I wonder if I could sue the state for arresting me for a small marijuana charge, which renders me jobless as well even though I just graduated from college too (with a 3.8).
