The last part is true. You'll notice that nobody demands the death penalty for alcoholics, even ones who gratuitously endanger their children by driving drunk with them in the car (which I suppose can be compared in terms of risk with molestation, except that molestation is almost never fatal.)
By the way, the fact that pedophilia is not a curable condition (just like alcoholism) does not mean it is true, as the tv shouters, politicians, et al. like to claim, that all pedophiles reoffend. (That would be like saying that no alcoholics remain sober).
Excellent points. A lot of people become very irrational whenever sex enters the situation. I don't agree with the death penalty or even locking someone up for life because he "might" do it again.

Can you really compare driving in the car drunk with a child where you might have an accident to a pedophile molesting a child? That is ridiculous.

Ok let's look at this ok. If an alcoholic re-offends most of the time it is only himself he is hurting, if a pedophile re-offends he has taken yet another child to the depths of hell. HUGE difference, HUGE!

Would you ever grope a child in a sexual manor? I am pretty sure the answer is going to be no. Normal people do not do this. It is the start, it is the beginning. It needs to be stooped before it gets to rape.
Under normal circumstances I agree 110% but when it comes to sexually abusing a child I have ZERO tolerance and will never apologize for that. I would gladly shot a pedophile without a second thought! Slam me if you want but that is how I feel.
