Best course right now? Just what Obama proposes to do: Talk. It's about all we've got for the moment. That and apply pressure on the Russian's to quit aiding and abetting them, but that would require us to give them something in return, something they really, really want (See: Georgia, Ukraine or Iraq). Dealing with the Chinese will be somewhat harder as they hold the keys to our economy in their grubby little hands, thanks to our nations policies for the past 20 years. And, they are Iran's single largest buyer of oil.

The real key to Iran is Europe and, specifically, the French. Unfortunately, we're not very highly thought of over there and they have a different agenda which they will pursue, whether we like it or not.

Bottom line? Look for nuclear war in the not too distant future.
"Talk."

I think we were talking to Japan on Sunday Dec.7,1941.

Good point - but for a different reason.

The fact that we were willing, and actually used, nuclear weapons on the Japanese should give the Iranians food for thought. It certainly gave the Russians pause - and the Russians had (and continue to have) substantially more nuclear weapons, proven methods/means for the delivery of these weapons to their targets, the capacity to sustain an attack, and an established infrastructure for the support of said weapons.

You see, if the Iranians attacked us, we could respond in kind with a nuclear bombardment which would be our right and they know it. That's the nature of nuclear deterrence and the beauty of the mutually assured destruction, although in this case, the brunt of the destruction would be unilateral.

On the other hand, if we attacked Iran first, it would give the Iranians (and by default the North Koreans) precisely what they need to prove why they must have nuclear weapons. The political and moral high ground that we have would be lost. It turns the Iranians from 'aggressors' to 'victims'. The means that could be used to persuade our allies would be diminished - any effort to gather a "coalition of the willing" would be met with skepticism, reluctance, and outright rejection. Nations that were on the fence (including friendly Muslim nations) could be pushed off the fence to the opposition.

Attacking them would be the easy solution, if this were an easy problem.

What is fraud Bam-Bam and Stupid Biden gonna do? Oh yeah, let Israel take care of it! Or maybe we will protect the region with an "umbrella" like Billary wants to do since she has already conceded that Iran will be allowed to have nukes.

What a bunch of idiots we have running our country! Thanks left-wing libs!
Since when has Iran become the "bad evil country"? Did President Bush really do that good of a job destroying the image of Iranians, Iraqis, and Palestinians? Looks like the public actually believed him and now you are scared Iran has nuclear weapons?

Listen kiddo, America has more deadly weapons than any country in the world, who are we to tell Iran not to use nuclear weapons? In fact, just because Iran has capabilities of using nuclear energy we automatically have to assume that they are building nuclear weapons (which they have a right to) and will nuke another country? Why do we think like that? Oh wait, American propaganda!

The actions and policies of the previous administration have left us hamstrung militarily, economically crippled, handed Iran the dominant position in the Gulf Region, alienated us from Russia (a major player in Iran and provider of their nuclear technology) and sold our future to the Chinese.

What else do you propose we do with Iran now?

It's the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Commission which says Iran is building nuclear weapons. How is that "American propaganda"???

Yes, and America has the deadliest weapons in the world. Shouldn't the world be scared sh*tless of us and accuse us of potentially bombing another country? No, we are too busy worried about Iran's capabilities. That is the issue to me basically. Like America is the "good country" and Iran is the "bad country", where in reality...there are no good and bad countries, there are only powerful and weak countries.

Instead of replying to my question, you just went on with your bs. Again:
"It's the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Commission which says Iran is building nuclear weapons. How is that "American propaganda"???"

Nice diversion.

I'll repost the question, maybe this time you can address it rather than going off on a emotional, illogical, and ignorant tangent.

It's the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Commission which says Iran is building nuclear weapons. How is that "American propaganda"???
