If he'd been born a few decades earlier, neither he nor his white mother wouldn't have been accepted by the white community. A large chunk of famous "black" people are mixed with something else but because (up until this election) in America if you looked black then you were. You can argue with a lot of things but you can't argue with history.
I think too that there are a lot of white folks walking around that would be very, very surprised if they learned that there was some black ancestors back in their history too.

I don't think all of his death threats are because of his race (otherwise assassination would be a new issue) but I think you'd have to be in denial to refuse to acknowledge that some crazy people (and you'd have to be crazy to issue a death threat to the POTUS regardless of race) hate that a black man is the POTUS.
Racism hasn't vanished - it's just quieter. There's a couple who lived down the street from us when I was growing up. My mom said her husband once beat up this black kid for looking at his daughter (this was in the 60's) - I doubt that he's any less racist now than he was 40 years ago. He's just older and now the law isn't on his side.
Wasn't there books written about how to assinate Bush and a movie about his assination?
The (pretty terrible) movie "Death Of A President" was NOT urging any violence against Bush. In fact, the movie depicted a pretty grim and horrific series of events directly resulting from Bush's death - i.e. the movie's POV was essentially pro-Bush.
If there were books like you describe I never heard of them, though considering how much he was/is hated I would not be surprised if they exist.
Sure seems like most of the right wing posters appreciate that Obama gets death threats.
