I work in healthcare and have been hoping for the day when lawyers reimbursements are legislated just like they are for many doctors. This is the case for medicare, medicaid and worker's comp in some states. The fact is it will never happen. Politicians are lawyers (and ambulance chasers).

Wouldn't that be great?
I am not sure I would be celebrating our school system. It in fact stinks. It is in worse shape than health care but the teachers union will not let Obama do anything about it.

I am afraid our healthcare will resemble our school system. Mediocrity for the masses. Private exclusive excellence for the wealthy.

How about choice? That's right the teachers union is against choice, can't have that.

Your proposition is the same as Obama's which is sinking him. He sets up a false choice between his way or nothing. He claims that those who disgree with him want to do nothing. The American people know that isn't true.

They already did. That is what they call private schools and parochial schools. ACT and SAT scores are higher in parochial schools than public schools and spend 40% less per pupil. That is our government in action- more money- poorer results.

The majority of legal cases are civil and not criminal. Due to the high cost of attorneys, many people are unable to seek just compensation in civil cases. In many cases, the financial consequences are severe and result in financial harship. Fair representation is the priveledge of the rich in America's legal system and this two tiered level of representation could be solved by a socialized system.

Lawyers make a ton of money and should be able to help these people, but chooses not to do so. Socializing law would cut the number of cases, as there would be no financial incentives for them to sue, yet would allow those who actually need attorneys some access to the legal system.

Civil cases are rarely a matter of life and death either. So lets deal with life and death, then we'll deal with the hot coffee in the lap.
They are not brought by 'choice' by the defendent.
And civil cases can ruin your life.

Oh, puleeze!

Call me when private schools have to take the dumb kids as well as the smart ones; the ones with behavioral problems as well as the polite and studious ones. When that day comes then we can compare the costs and achievements of private vs public education.
