It would go a long way plus, during this time of high unemployment, may open up a substantial number of jobs.

Unqualified Immigrants Fixing American Planes? (http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/immigration/1396 - broken link)

"The more experienced mechanics, we would get paired up with either one or two of these guys,” said a former mechanic with San Antonio Aerospace who was laid off. “They would watch us for a month or so. And that’s how they would get their training.” According to a former administrator, as soon as the American employees were let go, the foreign workers would arrive.

Americans who are unemployed WILL do the type of jobs that illegals do. The myth of "they do the jobs Americans won't" is just that - a myth. Many illegals are in surprisingly good jobs - as muleskinner's link shows.

True...those were "living wage" blue collar middle class jobs that ANYONE would do and be proud to be in that trade.

With millions upon millions NOT paying taxes and only sponging off of the medical industry and the welfare system I think it would be a great step in the right direction.Do you?
How about including some links to stats on how many illegals are actually on "welfare" and what it might cost to deport all of them.

While you are whinning about foreigners taking these jobs, remember who made the decision to get rid of the American employees and hire cheaper foreign labor. What is the nationality of the deciders? What is the nationality of the people who benefited materially from this decision? These people are called Americans.

Whining?.....My guess is either you are retired, have no kids getting ready to enter the workforce or are a pencil pusher whose occupation you "think" is relatively safe from being overran by illegals otherwise you would be "whining" about it too.

But if they were deported and weren't here to be hired, Americans would have to be, wouldn't they?

If you had a magical deportation device, maybe? I dunno, it costs money to deport/detain illegals, people seem to neglect this fact.

Depends on the business. If the business can't afford legal labor they would probably go under.
