This country has evolved hundreds of years in the last six months. The people who voted against Sotomayor are some of the biggest scumbags like John McCain. The old GOP dinosaurs are slowly becoming extinct
well as a hispanic this is a very proud moment and to those who are worried about her "wise Latina" comment, wouldn't you want somebody on the Supreme Court who "wise" but just happened to be Latina? She is a accomplished Justice and has earned her way to where she is but the right wing turned this into a race issue slamming her because she is proud of her ethnicity which many Americans do as well.
Would anybody have made a stink if a nominee said well "I'm a wise Irish man? " instead? I doubt it.

Are you proud as an individual or proud as a "hispanic"? Because it's foolish to have pride in your ethnicity. An ethnicity cannot become a Supreme Court Justice, an individual does.
It's not a "race" issue because she's not a "race" she's an individual who made a "racist" remark.
As I said earlier taking pride in your "ethnicity", which is something that you had absolutely nothing to do with accomplishing, is foolish.
You can be proud to be an American, because that is your nationality, and you have the choice to live in the U.S.A. or another nation to voice having that kind of pride. If you move to Canada, you can be a proud Canadian. Having pride in your ethnicity is foolish. Have pride that she accomplished a goal, that she overcame obstacles and succeeded. But pride in her being an "hispanic" is just as ridiculous as having pride in Obama being "black".
It's time to stop dividing each other up by ethnicity and "race", and start uniting as Americans.
Take that and stick it in your ear John McCain etal!
