i think the town hall protestors have a right to do what they're doing, and it would be great if they were just civilly making their points, but all this yelling over people and chanting slogans is achieving nothing but suppression of the other side's opinion. so yes, i think they've "gotten out of hand".
How do you know they are just yelling and shouting the entire time? They intereviewed people who were at these meetings and they said the media isn't doing justice to these events because they keep showing the highlights (ie the more inflamed parts) of these meetings much like Sports Centers shows game highlights. It doesn't mean the entire meeting was conducted that way.

From my experience as a fairly up to date person, politically speaking. This bill all of a sudden appeared and two days later Obama was up there declaring "this bill will get passed before recess!" which was like 2 and half weeks away.
I am dumbfounded that any intelligent person would be alright with this.
I agree. I think that was a problem.

Yeah... those would be the ignorant masses on the right who thought electing (or trying to elect) GW was a good idea.

How can representatives defend the bill when many of them have not read it themselves ? It's over 1000 pages and there are revisions of it floating around. Which bill is the true bill ?

1000 pages all for insurance subsidies ?

Instead of people being out to defeat the healthcare bill they should be out to tweak it so everybody (as much as possible) can live with it and feel represented in it.

Democrats should be negotiating with Republicans and Republicans willing to negotiate. This is something that effects everybody not just part of the nation.

Yes. Actual voters!
The thing is, there doesn't need to be a debate at these town meetings. All that needs to happen is for these politicians to see how absolutely pissed off the voting demographic is.

This may shock you but I read books that are more than 1000 pages long on a regular bases.

It's safe to say that there is no "kill granny" clause in the bill yet people won't believe it. Why is that?

OOOOHHHH! Socialism! Hissssssssss

Nasty old fire and police departments, Interstate system, damn libraries and public schools, zoning departments and city parks. Let's get rid of all those nasty socialist programs!

How about this. We create nice, socialist healthcare for everyone who wants it and the Feaux News viewers can keep on paying out the @ss to enrich a few health insurance execs and enjoy the endless barrage of bills and statements they receive from their free market insurance companies. You can just go ahead and be a victim of your own ignorance.

I think we need MORE protests! If our ELECTED officials pass this idiotic legislation, they need to be ousted from office. This will bankrupt our country....(as if we weren't technically bankrupt already!) and your health choices will no longer be your own.

And btw, The President hasn't MOCKED anyone so why the hell would you say that? Be honest.
Exactly! They are just there to say what they want to say, incite emotions, and block out any kind of real debate.

They scare off those who are level headed and actually want to hear BOTH sides.

The Republican scare campaign is working.
