Polls are like opinions and you know what they say about opinions.

I think the overall rating of government is low. People who pay have had enough. People who take want more. Few are being satisfied these days.

Could it be the economy more than anything else?

I think it is because the Republicans have become obtuse, oppositional, and are obstructing progress. Then they criticize Pres. Obama about not bringing about real change.

I would say that you haven't seen any recent Rasmussen polls about Dems in Congress. Check them out as 30% is a very handsome number.

According to the poll you supplied, the Democrat approval rating is 35 % to 50% depending on the poll.

The Republicans show an approval rating of 12%-36% again dependent on the poll.
The Democrats' approval is far better than the Republicans'.

President Obama's approval rating is far better than both!

public approval is low but DOD approval of GOP behavior is very high.
