Cleveland Leaders Respond To Shooting Death Of 15-Year-Old

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland NAACP responded Friday to criticism surrounding the shooting death of a teenage boy during a robbery.

NAACP President George Forbes and Cleveland Councilman Zach Reed said the black community failed 15-year-old Arthur Buford, NewsChannel5 reported.

They said Buford was wrong for allegedly trying to rob Damon Wells at gunpoint on Saturday.

Wells opened fire and killed Buford at East 134th Street and Kinsman. Police said Wells had a valid weapons permit and used the gun in self-defense.

Out of all of the senseless killings between black males, I have to say that this one is actually one of the few deaths that was justiifed. As for the NAACP, isn't it ironic that show up when a punk kid who was trying to rob someone is actually the one who gets his own medicine? What about the times where innocent lives were slain and they didn't say a damn thing about it. And as for the so-called "black community," they're more worried about the slain robber than the victim who could've been a casuality? This just shows how useless the NAACP is today and who most blacks really consider to represent them. This also shows how the only way reasonable blacks will make it is to separate from the greater failing community and tend to themselves (and spouse/family/siblings). To each his own duty and responsibility, I say.

Did you read the article. Nowhere in that article did the NAACP defend the perpetrator. What the NAACP said is that the victim will have killing a 15 year old boy on his conscious and I think anyone who has killed somebody before would always have that on their mind. The article also said that black on black crime has been and is an epidemic which is true. I will agree with you to a certain degree about the relevance of the NAACP. I also want to say that the NAACP does not represent most black people. A lot of older blacks have membership within the NAACP because of the civil rights movement but the NAACP is obviously not as relevant as they were in the 1960's. I also have a question. What is and who are reasonable blacks? I don't understand. With posts like these you seem irrational yourself.

I don't think you actually read the article.
