After reading the article, the concensus seems to be that the greater possibility is that the savings would be relatively small except perhaps in cases where the patient is cared for at home by family without benefit of insurance.
Financially, it doesn't appear that there would be much of a push toward policies designed to 'kill granny'
(Although, the uninsured family caretakers might be more inclined to consider the money part of it against their desire for another month of granny)
