Talk about the elephant in the room. We have skyrocketing unemployment with no signs of improvement. Yet our president and Democrat congress are obsessed with health care and cap and trade. WTF, Mr. President? Play time is over!

I just can't believe the level of ignorance in this forum, and the apparent inability of some to actually research before they post.

Health care is a huge part of our economy. It's a very large reason why our products are not competitive in the world marketplace. If you had been listening, you would have heard all about it. Addressing the health care crisis is addressing the economy.

Cap & Trade, applied evenly, will help our economy.

However, to answer the question posed by your OP, Mr. Obama ran as a Progressive, and was voted in to change the Conservative, Corporate-centered policies which have lead to our ruination over the past 3 decades.

However, in a show of strength, and illustration of the stranglehold that multinat business entities have on our once-democracy. once elected Obama has chosen to keep the status quo of government by and for the elites.

I don't know if anyone saw the forum debate on CNBC (very odd place for even a small grain of tyruth to sprout), but one of the panelists addressed the problem with staying the course, as Obama is doing.

It will take time for another asset bubble to be created, was his point.

Best we can hope for.

The irony of this obsession is that Cap and Trade actually had a profound effect on the healthcare reform debate/legislation. Why? As Rep. Obey (D-Wis) put it, conservative Democrats were strong-armed into voting for Cap and Trade and were feeling a major pinch from their constituencies for doing so. As a result, the healthcare locomotive was derailed in part because there didn't seem to be a way to convince the constituency that two-wrongs make a right.

What does that tell you about these two pieces of legislation? Sounds to me like its not only the GOP voters in opposition.
