You know what would be an interesting turn of events for the Medicare and Social Security groups? What if Universal Health Care fails and there are no reforms to the Health Care system? What are those that are passionate about Health Care reform going to do next? Wouldn't it be funny if they decided cutting off their nose to spit their face would be more effective. What if they decided to have a 360 degree turn on their opinion on how far reaching government should be in the lives of people??

I think those on government funded social programs should shut their mouths, because they may experience some server blow back if a large bit of the population wants more government funded programs and they don't get their fair share and you get to keep yours.

I personally would love if this happens and everyone wakes up to the idea social programs are not good at all. Is this possible at all will the Medicare and Social Security individuals experience any blow back? I'd like to hear from some of those backers of this Universal Health Care reform. If you did not get what you wanted would you be willing to take the freebie these individuals are getting or be willing to not pay into it anymore and opt out of it?

Social programs are a necessity of a modern world. Heck, even the Aztecs and Rome had social programs...of course they failed.

All programs fail at some point in time, question is what did you do to avoid the hit?

Yea, but do you think those on Medicare and Social Security will now experience blow back for their self righteous stance on socialism and government funded social programs?

Well I think we should ask the GAO to do an audit and tell us how Congress took money out of Social Security to pay for other programs throughout the decades. Let them tell us if Social Security would be in better shape now. I'm betting it's bi-partisan stealing.

If I had all the money back that I have paid into SS and Medicare, I wouldn't need any of it. If runaway inflation that is going to happen would not cost so many taxes, I probably would not need them anyway. Yes, the government is using taxes to steal from us everyday.

You know i wrote this thread a few weeks ago when these people were acting like a bunch of rapid dogs and none of you would listen, but now the real libertarians like myself, are up in arms and ready to start the Revolution to smaller government. Good riddance to bad rubbish on your silly medicare and social security. You want private health coverage you got it!! You don't want government sponsored retirement benefits, you got it!!! Now live with it!! I told you the Small government Revolution was coming. I honetly do feel sorry for all the Elderly people, that did not want any of this, but your silence and you allowing these brain dead people to yell down congressmen at town hall meeting sealed your fate, next time you need to stand up for you rights!!!! You'll learn one of these days you'll learn. You backed Sara and her death panel lies, well, guess, what now the same companies, that did not want your crippled old a%% on their plan in the first place will have control of whether or not you live or die. You wanted it and now you got it!!! See how stupid it is to argue against you self interest especially around health care????

You have now asked this question in 3 threads you have started. You are acting like a petulant child because you didn't get your way. You do understand people were forced to contribute to social security so many didn't have the opportunity to realize greater returns in the private sector. I do believe most younger people would be very happy to see Social Security phased out.

I noticed that you left Medicaid, food stamps and other "socialist programs" out of your tantrum. Why is that?

They are included in social security smart guy!! Duh, that's why i left them out. If you ever took the time to look up what else was in social security you'd notice those two. It is a board topic, but the biggest contributor to Social Security is OASI (which is what i want out of). Welfare (TANF is a 6 Billion Dollar program the one with the welfare queens and poor rural folks) and Medicaid (is a 100 billion program, that mostly goes to support poor children, which i do not have a problem with). Get educated on the facts my friend and stop spouting non-sense, that's why you just got used and spit out by us small government people, thanks for jumping on our bandwagon!

https://www.policyarchive.org/bitstr...3_20031125.pdf - start reading at page 236 it breaks down all the welfare programs by cost - it excludes SS and Medicare, but focuses on the programs you are complaining about, which mostly go to children and the elderly (the latter i could care little about).

To answer you question i left them off because i still have a soft spot in my heart for children which are the biggest beneficiaries of such programs (like welfare, food stamps, housing etc). I would agree with you about the small amount of adults on these programs that use the system, i do not care for, and the elderly on these programs, that had their opportunity to do what they were supposed to and failed, i don't care to much for either. However, the children do not have a strong advocate and they deserve a fair shot at life, even if their parents choose not to provide it for them. Plus, considering welfare rolls have been dropping since 1995, i'd assume most of them go on to live rather productive lives, so if i helped on that front i'm happy, but like i said not for adults or the elderly, but for the children!!

At 46, I'm not young and would be happy to see it go.

BTW: IMHO, if you don't like someone posting a second or third thread then ignore them. Just my $.02.
