Oops, I meant an insured American who was denied coverage. Unlike the crystal ball readers here who lie about Granny getting sent to her death bed early, this is reality. This is our current health care system that they defend.

Cancer Girl's Lawyer Blames CIGNA For Her Death

"An insurance company that initially refused to pay for a liver transplant for a 17-year-old Northridge girl who died in a hospital should face criminal charges and pay civil damages, an attorney for the girl's family said Friday."

(Snip snip)

"Sarkisyan's 21-year-old brother, Bedros, told reporters that UCLA had a
liver available for transplant, but they could not perform the procedure
because of Cigna's refusal to cover it."

(Snip Snip)

"A state and national nurses organization blasted Cigna's decision to
deny Nataline's transplant. "Why didn't they just listen to the medical professionals at the bedside in the first place?" said Geri Jenkins, a registered nurse and member of the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee Council of Presidents."

17-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Dies After Transplant Is Finally Approved By CIGNA - cbs2.com (http://cbs2.com/local/nataline.sarkisyan.CIGNA.2.615167.html - broken link)

It's sickening, absolutely sickening that so many ignorant people are actually defending insurance companies for engaging in this type of despicable behavior, because they're so damn afraid that the government is out to get everyone and/or because they think Democrats and Obama are the enemy.

Well, truth be told, they're cutting off their own noses, to spite their faces. No, scratch that...They want to cut off our collective noses, to spite the government, Democrats and the President.

Well, I for one hope that the Dems are successful, despite the recent attempts by insurance companies and Big Pharma and their respective astroturf campaigns to disrupt the passage of healthcare reform legislation that this country truly, desperately needs. I hope that a healthcare reform bill is passed, and that it includes a viable public option. At this point, it seems to be more of a you-Republicans-had-your-chance-and-you-blew-it-so-please-move-aside-while-we-get-it-done-without-you kind of a thing. While not ideal, it's the truth.

None of this anti-public option crap makes any sense, and anyone who would sympathize with an insurance company that acts as abhorrently as that which is outlined in the link (read: almost all insurance companies do) is a disgrace to all of us.

"Collective"? "Collective"? Oh my, you are a commie. You are ruining this country!

I'm sure that Cigna had a good reason for denying the operation! Cigna, like all other insurance companies that deny coverage and life-saving procedures, cares about people--first and foremost.

A government, public option only moves our beloved country to fascist, communist, liberal democraticism and away from the loving arms of Cigna and other health insurance providers!!!! Why? Why would you want that?

They're probably all salivating when they see SLC's (cleverly-written) title, but then, after actually reading his OP, cannot exit out of the thread fast enough.

Where are the defenders of the status quo? Where are the e-lobbyists for the Insurance Industry now?

This could just have easily been anybody's child in America.
