Tell that to David Duke next time you see him..........the "melting pot" thing.

Let me suggest A People's History Of The United States by Howard Zinn. You'll be stunned and amazed!

Did you personally feel your decendant's pain of being a slave? Do you know if the decendent was treated like a slave...or just referred to as a slave? Do you think that maybe the slave owner might have treated your decendent more like a member of the family instead of a [so-called] slave? Nope - you don't have a clue do you? But you are SO willing to share with anyone that will listen that you (have been told) are a decendent of slaves. My, my! What do you want that will make you forget the pain of it all?
Ok, let me provide light to the dim witted, first of all, I do not feel that feel anyone owes me anything b/c of my ancestory. I feel that this country owes ANYONE who has sacrficed a great portion of there life (and in many cases their lives) serving this country. In my case three generations that I'm proud to say....What about you?

Secondly, how stupid can you actually believe that a slavemaster can take a slave as a true member of their family w/o suffering the repercussion of a racist society? To top it off how many people in your family raped and separated the members of your family?

Finally, If you are separated from your culture, language and religion and transported to an unfamiliar world where you are considered as property. Just how many generations do you think would it take for a race of people to righten itself up despite of unjust laws, housing, education and employment, not to mention ignorant pollsters who are not clear on AMERICAN HISTORY who continously make assinine comments on a subject that you know nothing about.

As a footnote I was replying to someone else regarding freedom

I guess when the jewish people bring up the holocust, or the Japanese the interment camps, or the Native Americans mistreatment throughout history meant nothing to you either. Gee it must be nice when you live in a bubble.

You know (at least I hope you do!) that the Japanese, Jews and Native Americans rarely bring this up. They certainly do NOT use it every chance they get (and then some) like African Americans do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How often do those groups of people use that history as an attempt to raise guilt and push a victim mentality on their fellows?

There is indeed a portion of the black community who do just that, promote a victim and entitlist mentality among their own community, and also attempt to push a feeling of "white guilt" upon the Nation as well.

And the sad thing is, it's purely for political and/or monetary gain.

However, this tactic is slowly fading from popular culture, as more and more people shrug off that victim/entitled mentality, recognize history for what it is, The Past, and become everything from legal and medical professionals to scientists to creating Fortune 500 companies.

Wow, lets not act like race has NOTHING to do with such a high increase in death threats. I take into consideration that some of his latest actions and decisions might of contributed to the increase, but race also plays a very big part in this.

He's not only a black president, but a democrat. The government and the nation as a whole is going to be more strict with him compared the other presidents because of the huge responsibilities that have been inflicted on him as not only representing this country, but also representing black Americans (blacks have pushed that second responsibility onto him more than whites).

One slip up could cause uproars all across the country from white Americans. I mean seriously, people were going crazy because of him drinking a damn beer!

what about when a president visits the overseas troops or goes to a millitary base?? Not every single person likes and respects a president and some want to come home from war. Are troops disarmed around the president? I know this sounds crazy, but there's crazy people in all walks of life..

The Jews have experienced this for thousands of years even before your ancestors time and they are thriving and moving on. It's time to put away your anger and make America a better place. I really hate being blamed for something my family never had anything to do with. We had no salves so quit acting like all white people owned salves.

simetime,Thanks, for your service to our COUNTRY. And, No, I did not serve, but I do come from a family of many men who did. When I graduated there was not a big push on women joining. I have been donating to Disabled Veterans for 27 years. I figure at least I can send money and cards to the Veterans to show I care for their comment to OUR COUNTRY!!
