Amid raucous protests on health care, some worry about Obama's safety - Yahoo! Canada News (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090811/world/us_obama_death_threats - broken link)

WASHINGTON
- Death threats are part of the job for any American president, but Barack Obama has reportedly had more levelled against him than any commander-in-chief in history.

Concerns about his safety are mounting in the midst of a tense summer that has seen mobs of angry demonstrators showing up to protest Obama's health-care reform plans - including a man openly carrying a pistol on Tuesday in New Hampshire, where the president held a town hall meeting on health care.

This is no surprise to me. There are still a ton of racists in this country that will never accept a black man in office. Honestly I am surprised there hasn't been a known attempt yet. I even heard about pools going around on how long it will be before someone takes him out.

This is a great alibi for a good ol' gun snatch.

Trade in a few more personal liberties to protect The One. He knew there'd be a lot of flak to take the job in the middle of an economic crisis.

More hypothetical "what if" mscenarios brought about by paranoia. How about trying to discuss real issues rather than ones you dream up with your online conspiracy theory buddies?

Did anyone think that there wouldn't be plots against the first black POTUS? If so, I'd reconcile that those persons aren't living in reality.

I'm not sure why this would surprise anyone (but that doesn't make it excusable).

Just like the conspiracy theory that protestors with handguns are a danger to the president.

Oooooh, scary gunman with no criminal record near the president with tons of SS around him...scary!

Boo!

The shocker is it going up by so much, amidst all of this town halls where people are going crazy and old ladies are crying saying "what happened to my America". Acting like those things don't contribute is just stupid. Palin with the "death panels" contributes as well.

See that would be an actual event. Where what you said is merely something you dreamed up.

I swear, the more I read this board, the more I come to realize you right-wingers really are insane. No one in the right mind, could possibly believe it is ok for an unknown individual with a gun to be anywhere near the President.
