Abortion, rationed care, end-of-life issues are some reasons I am opposed to it. There is much more to this bill than meets the eye. I'm glad it's finally being discussed. There's got to be a better way to provide health care for those that really need it - not those that are just choosing not to purchase health care or are in the country illegally.

The concept of a Christian right makes me sick. I grew up in Puerto Rico, were Christianity was synonymous with social justice. My Christianity is about being more like Jesus every day, not this Calvinistic theology that I'm rich because I'm blessed, and if you are poor is because you are condemned.
All I can tell you is that many evangelicals in the african american and hispanic spectrum tend to be more centrist, voted for Obama in big numbers, and they support the healthcare reform.
Many "main-line" Christian religions have spun off from Calvinism. Most of these religions support health care reform. There is a thread on here about the "religious left".
Or does it? I mean whatever happened to "The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth"? Does Jesus stand with his hand out waiting for the copay? What would Jesus do?Would he turn his back on the dying, less fortunate?
Do you really want to know or do you just want to mock us like in the other thread you created asking our opinion?

Didja happen to catch Big Ed's radio show today? Ripped these so-called "Christian " leaders a new one!
They seem to want to butt into politics to get someone elected or to further their own agenda but when it comes to supporting taking care of the sick they suddenly are very quiet....

I really haven't wanted to say this, because it sounds cynical, but I've been thinking it for a while: It's easy to lobby the govt. to do what you want--ban stuff, behaviors, etc--until it starts costing money, then it's all about "government is bad!" "Small Government!" and individual liberty. . Honestly, I scratch my head sometimes at this stuff.
Thank God I'm a christian because of Jesus, and not the followers.
Siameseifyouplease,
What are these "end of life issues" that you speak of?
I suspect the "kill granny" stuff.

For some people there is an "abortion issue" with everything. Whether there actually is an issue or not.
Rationing isn't an issue.. At least no more than now. Another word for "rationing" is "being sensible", but people aren't as frightened by that.
