Since Obama took office, not a whole lot has changed in the scale of America's involvement in overseas conflicts. He announced the end of the war of Iraq, except for the 50,000 people that will be left behind (exact same plan Bush had proposed before he left office).
Now we are ramping up action in Afghanistan. Violence is without a doubt on the upswing.
IMO, Obama is simply continuing the same policy that Bush was running, except now the anti-war protestors have disappeared and the state run media (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, NPR) have stopped talking about the war. When Bush was in office, no other story got more coverage than the war, now they barely mention it and when they do, its a short story rather than long, drawn out segments with lots of interviews and commentary.
My question is not about whether or not Obama has moved our military efforts in the right or wrong direction, but rather, where did the anti-war people that the left wing media so cheerfully gave tons of air time to run away to? We are still at war so did they suddenly become pro-war? Or did the media decide they are not important since a fellow left winger is in the White House?
There are still protests, they're just not getting the press coverage. We STILL have the Women in Black protesting in my area, along with many other groups.
