I can understand where whites are coming from in regard to that. I would say, why in the beginning would you bother voting for him if you feel that way. 1. I would say white guilt. 2. I would say it was cool and trendy to vote for Obama to prove you arn't racist, and 3. Wanted to see how whites would react with a non-white in office, a test of the white race.
Where to begin. How about the second paragraph. Seems like SOME whites cannot deal with the fact that many whites voted for a man of color and feel there muct be a reason other than he was the most qualified of the candidates. That in itself is racist thinking, but then again those that believe such fairy tails are unable to see that. This white man voted for President Obama because he was the far better choice between the two, guess what he still is.

I don't fear the president, I fear the socialist puppet masters pulling his strings.

He got the votes for being the top candidate from more then the white people. How about the people from other races Mexican ,Latino ect, ect. Were they Also trying to show they were not racist or was this also guilt? That is just silly. He was a great choice and that is that no color needed for what you stand for.

I'm white and I ain't sceered...... Please don't think that you understand us whites. We are as different as night and day.

Maybe, just maybe, some of us "whites" voted for BO BC we thought he was the best person to lead our nation.

....and your post is quite patronizing.

Trust me, we may have a black man in the president's office, but there are still plenty of powerful white men helping to pull the strings. But I believe your possible reasons for why some white people voted for Obama are sound. I'd say choice #2 is was responsible for some of the Obama vote. But I am sure there were those who voted for him because they thought he was the best choice. It's politics folks, and it's all in whose got the best sales pitch. And that was Obama, hands down.

Only problem with your logic is the fact that there weren't only two candidates. There were only two "mainstream" candidates, but there were others. My candidate, Bob Barr, of the Libertarian party, had some excellent views on how our nation should be run. But most wouldn't know this, because he hardly got any press at all. We don't have to vote Repub or Democrat. There are other options. And for those who call those options a wasted vote, that will only be so as long as you perpetuate the cycle. If all those Repub supporters voted Libertarian next election, we'd have a new front runner in the partisan system. It would then be the Libers and the Dems. Just a thought.

I have no problem with other Parties, but unfortunately, yes I would have wasted my vote had I voted for one of the "others", it is just the reality, for now. I would welcome a third Party, one based on common sense and one that represents the majority of Americans that fall in the middle. The Libertarians had me interested at one time but as I have said he before, the problem is they attract too many single issue groups that are nowhere near mainstream. For a third Party to succeed they would have to start winning at the local level first and build a power base and following that could eventually grow to a point where they could make a viable bid. I keep hoping, but nothing so far.
