I would argue 50% of the country being against the Presidents signature proposal of healthcare and the related payoffs in the Senate bill, The escalation of the war in Afghanistan, the failure of the Obama administration to get any traction on moving Iran away from Nuclear weapons, the unemployment numbers (10 months after a trillion dollar stimulus plan), giving Harry Reid a pass on his crass statements about Obama and race etc have not made Gibbs job easy.

That being said, Gibbs doesn’t have the nack for making a non-answer seem like an answer. That is for sure.

He's being paid to speak the words he's told to say. He speaks for the WH.

Does that answer your question?

Yes, I also miss Tony Snow.

Robert GIbbs is awesome. He provides the most excellent comic relief. I hope he is never fired!

I miss him too. He was a straight shooter, no mincing words, spoke the truth...must've stepped on somebody's toes.

The WH Gibbs isn't going to step on anybody's toes. He's far to careful. Weasel is a good description, yes.

I agree. The percentages you cite are never acknowledged by the WH however. According to Gibbs, everyone is behind them except for the far right fringe element. Must be a large element if it is 50% of the country.

Just heard...53% of the population disapprove of his performance. Talking heads say that's because they're worried about their jobs - either losing them, or if they're unemployed, worried about finding a job, and they think the President's almost exclusive focus on healthcare is misplaced. Most people think that he should be working on the economy and jobs, not healthcare as a priority.
