A 42-year-old Louisiana man has died, apparently of a broken neck, after being pulled over by a police deputy.
A dash cam video shows Deputy Chris Sturdivant of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office with his arms around Adam Stogner’s neck after the officer suspected the man of putting a small quantity of drugs into his mouth.
Stogner died along Interstate 12. Preliminary results from the coroner show that Stogner died from “severe coronary artery disease, an enlarged heart, and a fracture of the hyoid bone in his neck.”
According to CBS affiliate WAFB, the sheriff’s office says Stogner did not put his truck in park when he was pulled over. This may have led the officer to believe Stogner was planning to flee the scene. And the deputy believed Stogner was impaired.

So we're to let law breakers get away with anything? If he didn't try to hide it, didn't put it in his mouth, spit it out after he put it it in his mouth or didn;t have it in the first place he'd be alive today. I'm sure the cop didn't intend to kill him but the guy is clearly struggling with him yet you want to balme the cop for it?

struggling with an officer doesn't result in a death sentence. not unless you you support street thugs(police), who use excessive force. His conduct was uncalled for and he should be charged with murder. It seems like socialist/communist scum will try to justify anything the the police do. I hope you feel the same when they arrive at your doorstep. Enjoy the upcoming police state.
watched the video. the suspect died resisting arrest. he tried to swollow something, i doubt it was chewing gum. at no time did the officer use deadly force of weapons.

LOL, that would be the very first time I have ever been called socialist/communist and anyone that knows me would find it amusing. The "scum" part... well name calling is usually what people resort to that have no other legs to stand on to support their argument and childish at best.
It's quite clear form that tape the cop was doing his job, it's unfortunate that the person died but when you fight with the cops bad things are going to happen. It's never a good ending, that I can tell you from experience and it wasn't me winning the battle. Now that I'm older I can undoudtedly say I'd have kicked my ass too.
Certainly there is bad cops but there is bad people in any profession, this isn't one of those cases. The person who died brought it upon himself, the situation escalated because of his actions. If the cop ran up to him and started choking him for no reason then you'd have an argument butr what I see is a suspect that is clearly not cooperating.
FYI the bone that was broken is in his upper neck, it's not his neck. So unless something else was broke both your title and article would be misleading.

What the hell is the point of breaking a guy's neck for a trivial, small amount of drugs? These officers are ridiculous on their crusade for someone putting something in their own body.
There is no reason to kill someone over a tiny amount of whatever drug.
This is a perfect example of "excessive force" This man, who only had enough drugs to pop in his mouth, was tackled, flipped around, and had the weight of a grown man on his neck the whole time. This is the reason why officers are provided with equipment such as tazer guns. A man this out of control is probably on drugs already, thus his judgement is impaired. When the man continued to struggle and fight, he should have been tazed. No one is defending the man's crime, but he should not have died this way. These officers should and most likely will be charged with manslaughter at the very least, and the city will be seeing a nice lawsuit.
Perhaps this will serve as a warning to all those egotistical, overzealous police officers out there who think they have the right to do anything they want. The law exists for a reason, and obviously this guy was trying to hide something. But he did not deserve to die for it, and these officers did not act with any common sense. If you listen to the video, the officers are still more worried about the drugs than the man, even after they can't tell if he is breathing. This shows a complete lack of morals, since any normal feeling person would immediately care more about a person's life than a paltry amount of drugs on their person. The police have forgotten their place in this society and many of you have as well. You think it's OK for police to push people around and batter them this way. They are supposed to be here to protect us, and that is not what they were doing here. They're egos killed this man, nothing more. They weren't concerned for his life or the lives of others. They just wanted to make him do what they said to do, no matter what it took. And this time, it took someone's life.
