WASHINGTON - -- The Obama administration signaled Sunday that it was on the verge of abandoning a government-run insurance option in its health care overhaul -- a bow to political reality and a big win for insurers.

"There is no such thing as a government single-payer plan! It is all a lie! But we will vote to get rid of it just the same."

Another victory for the American taxpayer, and a blow to the Marxist Regime in the White House.

This is good. The health insurance industry needs more laws, regulations and oversight to curb many abuses. Maybe now we can negotiate in good faith.

The problem with the government option is that it was seen as a power grab. It was seen as a way for the government to exercise more control over the economy and the people. Once that camel gets its nose under the tent its all over. It was a 'foot in the door' to a government take over. This country is not willing to go down the road to socialism with Obama.

The problems in the health care industry can be solved without the government taking over health care. Maybe now we can get that done.

I think it would be a big mistake.
The industry will not police itself unless it's forced to do so.
They've had since the early 1990s to come up with reforms.
They refused.

Let's not celebrate just yet. We know how treacherous obama, rahm and the dems/libs are and they will certainly attempt to implement a public option through intimidation, threats and blackmail.....of their own party.

Until it is buried, I wouldn't put anything past them.

Don't get complacent.

You are absolutely right, H.R. 3200 has nothing to with reforming health care, and everything to do with usurping even more power away from the States. This Marxist Regime clearly cares nothing about the US Constitution, they will do whatever they please unless the American people stop them.

That's it then, may as well forget Health Care. Without a Public Option there is no reason to reform it and it would just be another layer of fat. Let Armey and the AMA win their suit against Medicare and Social Security too, that way we will be rid of those "Socialist " Programs

As a conservative, I am mixed about the "public option." On one hand, I am sympathetic to those that are without insurance due to costs, pre-existing conditions, etc. But on the other hand, our government does not have a history of managing entitlement programs effectively or efficiently. At what point do you draw the line at helping those in need off the backs of the middle class? The middle class will end up paying the bill. I believe this much is certain. But where do you draw the line? I am not solidly against the public option, but I am solidly against the perpetual bait and switch our government is famous for.

Um,

It's just a corporate media hoax.

Like the ones we saw during the Oil War.

You beat me to it. I agree. I am reminded of the speech Obama made where he said "we may not get it all at once, but we will get it one step at a time, bit by bit."

They're not giving up. They're changing strategy.
