Reality check for you: the government does not control where charitable donations go. That is up to the donor, much as you wish it were otherwise.

No... but legally the only commitment corporations have is to generate profit. Doing good things is an occasional side effect. Large Corporations aren't donating money to feel good about it because (in that case) they would be breaking their contract with stockholders. They are doing it because it raises share price. Conversely they will do things with negative societal benefit for the same reason.
