I agree and my mother is a member of the NRA lol. It is certainly lawful to do, but not a very bright idea. We can debate all day how stupid the idea of bringing a gun to these rallies is, but as long as it is covered under the law, they are and should bring the guns to the rally. However, I'm pretty sure the secret service will have no problem taking out anyone that even dares aim, the gun in President Obama's direction. Personally, i think he feels much safer standing on the podium and being able to view the non-concealed weapons. The people you have to worry about aren't the one's showing up with guns at the rally, it is the people hiding in building with sharp shooters away from the rally, that are not in the plain view. The chances of Obama experiencing what Regan did are very high, but the chances of it being successful, i think are very low, but it is scary the risk is still out there. Plus, i think if the situation got seriously out of control he would do most of his public speaking behind a bullet proof glass display. If it gets to this point we need to recognize we have a serious problem here.

I'm with ya on this.. Doesn't help we gun owners out a bit. Just gives the haters a reason to sling around more rhetoric. I'm not big on proving the anti gun types points for them by presenting myself to be as much a rabid zealot as they are.

We had a sort of rule in 'Nam, don't worry as much about the gunman you can see as much as about the one you cannot. If you saw a VC with a gun you shot him. It is harder to hit someone you cannot see.

BTW - I am a 20+ year NRA member that vehemently supports the individual right to be armed and the right to carry firearms. I would have not carried a visible weapon to any political rally. That would be an idiotic thing to do because it would be considered intimidating and discredit the entire right to carry movement.

Why is it sad?

You think it is sad that woman like firearms.

Sweetie - woman have been carrying guns in this state for YEARS. And still do. My wife has a nice little Glock tucked in her purse - and she is a pretty darn good shot too.

It's sad that we've come to such a state in this country. What does this say to children, who'll grow up thinking this is normal thus should be maintained?
