Of all the bone headed things Obama has done, this is surely the nail in his political coffin.

The international trade in developing oil fields is dominated by the US, with the Russians and the French breathing down our necks. You think BRAZIL is going to drill those ocean platforms? You want to turn the largest oil find in the Western Hemisphere over to the god damn Russians and Chinese while you chase a Sarah Palin slogan? I cannot believe the incredible idiocy that has gripped the country as we convulse in another spasm of Right wing Jingoism.

Would you right wing fanatics prefer the Chinese finance it, or should it be the Russians? And just what country do you think has the companies that have the technology for developing an 80 billion barrel field, I'm sure you have heard of Halliburton, on a field like that, that's just the start, every oil and pipeline firm in Houston will be put to work, and yet you narrow minded political point scorers don't have a friggin clue. Perhaps Russian and French companies should be doing it while we look for a thimble full of oil off of Martha's Vineyard, right? You couldn't find 80 billion barrels off the coast of the US even if Jesus came back. This will mean hundreds of thousands of US jobs, and this time we didn't even have to kill our own kids to get them.

The US is playing catch up. China is already in and has been for a few months. Remember China has money to spend; they are a creditor nation now.

China Wields Credit Clout Again to Lock In Brazilian Oil - WSJ.com

And China may be doing more than just purchasing oil. From that article:
"Beijing is winning more than just mineral riches with these deals. Under the latest agreement, Brazil has offered to consider increasing its use of China's increasingly sophisticated oil-field-service company, which could potentially erode the dominance of companies such as Schlumberger Ltd. and Halliburton Co."

China is buying some of our toxic assets with US dollars and bonds, guess who may be your next landlord. Get rid of the dollar and own the mortages to a lot of homes.

a couple "defenders" who mostly went completely off topic (the normal defense when you really should just let it go) or posted something that was basically a waste of bytes and bandwidth.. but at least they showed up

Because apparently the Brazillians don't object to ugly oil rigs off their beaches or the occassional little oil slick they might swim in. We do object and loudly.

George Soros Cut Petrobras Stake in Second Quarter (Update2) - Bloomberg.com

Now, isn't this a bit suspicious? Soros, the money-man behind obama's election, diving in right before obama makes a commitment like this?
Rather then reading all of the dribble posts:

The Bank’s bipartisan board unanimously approved the commitment to Petrobras on April 14, 2009, before any Obama appointees joined the Bank. In fact, at the time the Bank’s Board consisted of three Republicans and two Democrats, all of whom were appointed by George W. Bush.

Even a third grader could have done 30 seconds of research on this but it is easier to use the terms idiot and stupid, but this time, your right. Your talking about George W. Bush.

no we do not object! our government is CURRENTLY allowing the drilling off of florida's coast, just not for the benefit of the united states!

all of these oil deals will strengthen other countries to the detriment of the united states. the worst part is that AMERICAN money is being used to finance THEIR expansion!

for the poster who would defend this oil expansion, where were you when america should have been drilling for oil so we would not even be in this situation now? this is now part of a global corporate setup to help "emerging" nations (to invest in emerging economies) at the expense of "developed" nations, which the globalists feel are "tapped out", having reached their "credit limit".
