In our history, any time we have had a real chance at political change the nutcases seem to slither out from the rocks where they had been hiding oblivious to the world around them.Republicans: "Growing the Crazy Tree…" Once Again (http://www.wp-wordpress.com/republicans-growing-the-crazy-tree-once-again - broken link)

In the 1950's the Republicans accused Franklin Roosevelt and Truman as having completed 20 years of treason and stated that anyone who lead the fight against fascism were giving up to communism. Republicans: "Growing the Crazy Tree…" Once Again (http://www.wp-wordpress.com/republicans-growing-the-crazy-tree-once-again - broken link)

Richard Nixon proported, upon entering the White House, that he found a blueprint on how America was to be socialized.Republicans: "Growing the Crazy Tree…" Once Again (http://www.wp-wordpress.com/republicans-growing-the-crazy-tree-once-again - broken link)

John F. Kennedy was accused of disarming the U.S. when he chose to readjust the U.S. nuclear arsenal and form closer ties with the Eastern Bloc countries.Republicans: "Growing the Crazy Tree…" Once Again (http://www.wp-wordpress.com/republicans-growing-the-crazy-tree-once-again - broken link)

"Thousands of delegates from 90 cities packed a National Indignation Convention in Dallas, a 1961 version of today’s tea parties; a keynote speaker turned to the master of ceremonies after his introduction and remarked as the audience roared: "Tom Anderson here has turned moderate! All he wants to do is impeach [Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl] Warren. I’m for hanging him!" Republicans: "Growing the Crazy Tree…" Once Again (http://www.wp-wordpress.com/republicans-growing-the-crazy-tree-once-again - broken link)

Right wingers have previously claimed that the 1964 Civil rights acts were introduced to enslave whites. And before that, the Bolsheviks were to blame for civil rights legislation. Republicans: "Growing the Crazy Tree…" Once Again (http://www.wp-wordpress.com/republicans-growing-the-crazy-tree-once-again - broken link)

My personal favorite? The federal government expanded mental health services in the Kennedy era, and one bill provided for a new facility in Alaska. One of the most widely listened-to right-wing radio programs in the country, hosted by a former FBI agent, had millions of Americans believing it was being built to intern political dissidents, just like in the Soviet Union. Republicans: "Growing the Crazy Tree…" Once Again (http://www.wp-wordpress.com/republicans-growing-the-crazy-tree-once-again - broken link)

Just as it has been in the past the manufactured fears were laid to rest just as these new manufactured fears will be laid to rest once true health reform passes. So just tune out the nutjobs. This too shall pass.
I do not agree that they are crazy. Thinking, intelligent people go crazy. These right wingers are just plain stupid. Stupid and heartless.

I believe to finance health care reform we should not take on more debt. Included in any health care bill should be a provision of how we are going to pay for it, without additional borrowing. Possibilites include, getting out of the middle east which could save billions. Increasing the capital gains taxes on the wealthy to put them in line with what the average american pays as a percentage of income. Do these two things and you should be able to cover the cost.
You may have a point there, but there is more in that "can of worms" than anyone knows. One of the main problems is that not 1 politician can explain how it's all going to be paid for. The reason they can't explain is, they don't want to explain because they will have to let you in on the fact that taxes on EVERYONE will have to go up. They won't do this this close to elections. It's all a political game being played on OUR backs with total disregard of what WE think or what WILL happen to US. They are snakes in the grass, they will shove it right up our asses in the end and you know it.

For some people it is. It's either their way or they throw every insult, badly construed term, lie...everything that is thrown and taken as a belief simply because people may not like them or their position.

As long as we allow insults, lies, and the person who thinks differently is an evil enemy that must be defeated at all costs in the debate we let the nut jobs play center stage.

Well this we both can agree on. Politicians want to take as few positions as possible because then they have to defend it. The republican congress and bush did the same thing with the war in Iraq. Do now and pay later. I don't agree with that no matter which administration is in charge.

Today's "conservatives:" Can't tell truth from lie.

Sure. All conservatives are just "stupid" because they do not share your views. The democratic party is the source of all truth and objectivity, while the republican party is the source of deciet and evil.

It kind of sounds like the polar opposite of Shawn Hannity- republican good- democrat bad.

Are you saying that the world is not flat? How come we don't roll off?

Perhaps but they keep it to themselves in public...here on CD every dirty little wing nut idea roams about freely and with an air of superiority...like it just stepped out of the shower, wrapped itself in a towel and proclaimed itself the King of Siam or something....the crazier the better.

I've also noticed that the most ridiculous ideas attract gawkers that are then pulled into debating something that is, in fact, a passing freakshow.
It's very bizarre.
